OP1 was a revolutionary phone, which changed the smartphone market as we know it
It was a ballsy move from a company for its first phone, and IMO it really paved for today's mid range kings like Xiaomi and Moto ,and compelled giants like Samsung to provide good phones for cheaper prices
Sadly, OP has grown richer and cockier since then, and I doubt they will ever make such a bold move
They have learnt rather playing it safe, cutting corners here and there
Until we have another company disrupting the market, all we have are the fond memories of OP1 to content with

BBK Electronics, is the parent company for Oppo, OP and Vivo, and its rich as hell
Hell, I even heard OP and Vivo are located in the same campus, no wonder Vivo R11+ and OP5T look exactly the same
OP claimed that they didn't have the resources to come up with a 18:9 screen on OP5
But if you think about it, for OP5T to start selling in November, they had to start planning latest in July, when OP5 came out in June
So, they always had it planned well ahead in advance
Having said all these, OP really have a great software on their phones, and despite the missing features, they are at least providing phones at half the flagship prices
The closest competition they have is from Nokia and Huawei
Shadocx, 21 Nov 2017Nokia 8 doesn't have a 6 inches 18:9 amoled display tho...Size, Yes agree. But Amoled screen, not a deal breaker. Checkout the Nokia 8 screen sharpness and colour. Its 2K.
cotolino, 20 Nov 2017Does it have wireless charging?Nope, wireless charging is not possible through a metal back.
Hi, It could be better with Android Oreo and most important increase thicknes on 2 mm, and put 4000 or 4500 mAh battery! should be bomb!
I cried in tears of excitement when I saw it had the headphone jack
BLESS Carl Pei, BLESS!!!

cotolino, 20 Nov 2017Does it have wireless charging?Metal Body, so no wireless charging.
Yeah OnePlus, I will NEVER SETTLE for a phone that is not waterproof!
cotolino, 20 Nov 2017Does it have wireless charging?Nope, but it has the fastest quick charge..
Normally glass back flagships have IP68 rating and comes with wireless charging too, where else Sony's opted metal body for their Xperia XZ1 which has IP68 waterproof something Oneplus don't have the resources to implement waterproof protection. Oneplus still a small company only produce midrange budget phone with flagship specs. What do you expect anyway?

One thing not pointed out is the 5T back isn't made of breakable glass = big advantage over the expensive flagships. Unless you have unlimited money, expensive phones that break easily make no sense.
Expect design & big display, nothing special in it
Op5t disappointed me after big hypr
Kudos to gsmarena for getting the full review published online so quickly!! Battery life scores very useful.

And it's not just a tropical rainforest but any tropical country for that matter where rain is frequent and unpredictable.
At the end of the day 5T is a very good phone at a very good price but the difference is it's no longer a "flagship killer" cos it's priced to match other flagships and is now competing with them directly. I guess OPPO is fine with that cos One Plus is after all their premium brand and by now has built up a premium image around it. But the days of getting an uncompromising flagship at half the price of its rivals ala OP One is long gone.
