The phone started out really good but my long term review is that I hate it. There always seem to be some new bug that I have to deal with. Speed and stability is what I wanted from OnePlus. The phone is snappy but these bugs are ridiculous. I would not recommend.
Jude, 07 Jun 2022I got the update recently and my phone's UI now looks like that of Oppo. Moreover, my bat... moreMy 8T runs OOS12 fine. No lag, no crashing, but since I used the Oxygen Updater full OTA for the latest C.20 update of OOS12, it broke Google Pay. But otherwise, my 8T is faster and smoother than it ever was with OOS11, battery life seems to be improved and is simply incredible. Especially the idle battery drain from the last few OOS 11 versions is gone, so I simply have to charge my phone less often with similar usage.
Oh, and a few apps that did crash back in Android 11 (if they crashed, it happened immediately when I launched them - killing them and launching them again worked in OOS11) are working fine after the update to OOS12. I don't mind the new UI, I would say I'd prefer to have the old look back, but this clearly isn't a deal-breaker for me. My phone also shows 5G as an option, but I'm still on a 4G plan - can't test if it actually works.
I know there has been various issues, others have had fast charging not working at all, excessive battery draining and phone running hot, apps crashing, 5G broken for some users (phone won't even show the option for 5G), and also other stuff I now can't remember. Surely OOS12 has some maturing to do, but for me and my 8T... C.20 is generally speaking fine. I didn't clear cache or factory reset my phone after updating.
Anonymous, 06 Jun 2022my 8T is still stuck with oxygen OS 11.0.12.12...That's the better can happen to your phone. don't upgrade to oxygen 12.

Moreover, my battery drains faster and my phone has significantly decreased in speed even after making adjustments in the developer options. I wouldn't recommend the update

Seetal, 19 Apr 2022Stay on oxygen os 11. Oxygen os 12 is full of bugs battery draining i tested both oxygen os 12... moreYou are right. Wish I never accepted upgrade. Battery drain issues are significant and noticable. An obvious culprit is an app called "quick device connect".

Isabella, 19 Mar 2022I hesitate between s20FE, A52s and OnePlus 8T.
Which is the best ?I had to choose between 8T and S20FE. Tried them both, and went with the OnePlus 8T. The design and cameras of S20FE in my eyes looked better, but as I play pubg mobile (quite a lot) S20 FE wasn't as responsive as the OnePlus when it comes to gaming. Also heat management felt better on the Oneplus 8T. S20 FE heats up a lot faster than the OnePlus. And also there were many many reports of touch screen problems on S20FE devices (Samsung issued a variety of software updates trying to fix the problem but not sure if they managed to fix it).
Haptic feedback (vibration motor) is way better on the OnePlus 8T (it's so pleasing on the hands). Battery life - I really can't comment on this as I only used the Samsung for a couple of days. When it comes to charging, oneplus is just lightning fast. I try to keep my battery level between 30 - 80% to increase the lifespan of Li-ion battery. But I'm having a hard time because the OnePlus charges so fast.
In my case, pricing played a part too. In my country, OnePlus 8T is about 150$ cheaper than the Samsung.
I'm not saying the S20FE is a bad device. It has its advantages too. I was using a Samsung S10 before this. So I was used to the feature rich Samsung One UI. I loved the Bixby automations which made life so easy (like automatically switching to vibrate mode when I reach my college and switching between display resolutions when I'm playing graphics intensive stuff). S20 FE also comes with an IP 68 rating and wireless charging (but you know, wireless charging is quiiiiite slow).
One other thing to consider is software support. Oneplus will most probably receive up to Android 14 as it launched with Android 11 while the Samsung will end up on Android 13.
Isabella, 19 Mar 2022I hesitate between s20FE, A52s and OnePlus 8T. Which is the best ?Depends what you are looking for in a phone. For software, it's of personal choice which is better but you only have 1 year left on S20FE, the A52s and 8T are stronger materials but my 8T has become really scratched compared to my last phone. The 8T will probably feel more premium, also has way faster charging. Cameras best on S20FE and A52s better on 8T. A52s has slower processor but it is the most recent phone so will still feel good enough if you are not used to top processors. Screen sizes all pretty much the same. Battery on the S20FE and A52s seems faster than 8T, and my 8T drains quickly with 4/5G and location on than my last phone. Overall if you are in no rush to replace, I would wait for the first discount you can find on the A73 5G after it comes out because it's the same chip as the A52s, 4 years software and 5 years security support, better camera, larger battery, but you would have to spend £20 to buy a charger.
Isabella, 19 Mar 2022I hesitate between s20FE, A52s and OnePlus 8T. Which is the best ?Isabella, OnePlus 8T by a mile. This thing charges in 30 minutes, it's so convenient.
I hesitate between s20FE, A52s and OnePlus 8T.
Which is the best ?
Anyone got any suggestions on how much I should sell my OnePlus 8T for? Got it July 2021 and it somehow got unexplainably omega scratched on the screen though 99% of it is not noticeable with a screen protector. Besides that it's in solid condition. thanks for any responses
