A few rumors made the rounds recently talking about OnePlus readying a 7T Pro model that will be launching in a couple of months' time, and it turns out that may actually pan out.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has told the Financial Times that his company will release a new 5G capable smartphone in the fourth quarter of this year - that's October to December. Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, which is only available from a handful of carriers across the world, the new device would get a global release.OnePlus 7 Pro
This is just pure speculation on our part - but this could mean that there's only going to be one 7T Pro model, with 5G built-in, and not two different variations, one with 4G and one with 5G like we saw with the 7 Pro. Obviously this being OnePlus we expect the new handset to use the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, but it's unclear how else it would differ from its predecessor.
According to Lau, "if you want to be a premium phone in 2020, you have to be equipped with 5G technology." He went on to say: "We believe with the development of 5G technology next year we can have an [even] better performance. With the upcoming 5G era approaching, we are going to invest more."
The company is looking to expand even further in the US and win more customers from Huawei, Apple, and Samsung everywhere. OnePlus has increased both revenues and unit shipment volumes this year, and doubled its headcount to more than 1,700 employees.
The headphone jack CAN be worked around, I'm sure we'll see some bespoke USB-C gear coming soon, however what the OP7T really needs is an SD card slot.
I wonder if oneplus would do what they did last year. Release the t version and then a month later release a special edition version.
