@paulmithai - Ah, yes snapdragon 690 is bad (compared to 765), then samsung A71 is definitely better.
In camera department I would suggest realme 6 Pro, x2 Pro at nord price range (as I am not sure of 5g support) and both have telephoto (same telephoto sensor as oneplus 7t Pro) apart from Samsung gw1 so it's a flexible package, nord or M51 does not have telephoto but only superior primary cam. Imx682, 686 (poco x2 - redmi k30). Yes , software fluidity any day oneplus and then Sammy.
In higher range I would give oneplus 7t Pro and oneplus 8 Pro a go.
MobileMan, 18 Sep 2020@Mehami - If you are in US I suggest to wait for OP Nord N10 as it is better package with bett... moreNot necessarily, I mean the experience might not be as fluid Because samsung has a lot more smartphones to maintain than OnePlus. But I hear the A71( I'm not 100% sure ) is included in the new promise of samsung that they will give major software updates for 3 years whether they keep it or not but that sounds promising
Subramanian CN, 17 Sep 2020Nord could have made the mark, if it had the following specifications.
1. FHD IPS LCD NO No... moreAnd this really wouldn't be a flagship killer would it now?
The definition of a flagship killer is to offer the same experience as a flagship (higher refresh, Oled, camera, fast charging, and other quirks a flagship includes for example the indisplay fingerprint) but cutting the right corners to lower the price.
What you are describing is a good entry range phone I my opinion that I would pay no more than 300 for.
Xiaomi and Realme usually make those kind of phones but the software is bad.
You could also look at the m51 I think it has most things that you asked for
Subramanian CN, 17 Sep 2020Nord could have made the mark, if it had the following specifications. 1. FHD IPS LCD NO No... moreThere is a new version of the nord coming to america with a 690 snapdragon and a better main camera( at least it has more pixels) Don't know about the other features thought.
@Mehami - If you are in US I suggest to wait for OP Nord N10 as it is better package with better OPtimisation / no Exynos.
If not then Samsung A71 is slightly better deal because of Bigger Display , Better Cameras , but Software will be a compromise
As a positive note - OnePlus Nord N10 5G coming to US , where they are going to employ 64 Mp camera , it mostly should be IMX 682 or IMX 686 , image quality will improve considerably.
I bought this phone a few weeks ago and I am happy about the ultrawide and the regular cameras, it's much better then it was on the MATE 10 PRO. Also, I like the build quality, it not feel cheap at all. The display is good too. The most disappointing about this phone is the software and battery... I have already got notifications about several bug reports, sometimes can't unlock the screen with a fingerprint scanner, as when I wake up the phone it stays inactive. The next step about the software is that the android auto not working on Nord devices... It's installed, but always crash while starting there are lots of threads created about this issue. And about battery life... I am not a heavy user and still have to charge the phone once in a day... for example, the old MATE 10 PRO after 2 and half years still could keep the battery for 2 days.
Just to be more Precise i find OnePlus Nord camera better then Realme 6 ( In most Scenarios ) , but lacking behind Realme 6 Pro , Realme 7 Pro & Realme 7 both are better as they employ the superior IMX 682 (1/1.72" vs 1/2.25")
Having used & Checked other Devices in Hand & also Photos , I can say OnePlus Nord has some things going for it , Some things Negative.Build Quality is ok , & Performance is Very Good incl. Oxygen OS ,
5G some bands are available ( But India & 5G is 2023 at least , 2022 is Very Optimistc even Auction will take place atleast 2021 , by that time Nord will be History , so don't take in India for 5G , for International Markets yes that's a Plus also supported bands are limited so might not support Indias 5G Band unlike Full Spport 5G in OP8) .
1. Display - Excellent Display & Yes Inferior to OnePlus 8 ( Does Oneplus use Samsung or other Manufacturers as there displays are having all kinds of tinting issues etc. which is not present in samsung or maybe OnePlus is taking such displays from samsung just for marketing hype without samsung putting it on its own devices )
2. Camera - Now that's the main Problem , its a Mixed Bag , & not consistent , no where compared to OnePlus8 in sharpness or colours or contrast in Daylight or Night. Now reason is OnePlus 8 itself barely comes better (48MP ) as compared to Redmi K30 (POCOX2) , infact in most situations Poco x2 has better colours , everything better than OP8. That is thanks to IMX686 bigger (1/1.72 ) Sensor vs IMX 586 on OP8 (1/2.25") , only OIS helps OP8 in night photos , but in daylight 8/10 POCO x2 photos are better , heck even Samsung GW1 ( 1/1.72" - 64MP/16Mp) is able to obtain better photos including better telephoto crop ( used in Realme 6 Pro , X2 Pro , X50 etc. ) , its mentioned even by GSMArena Editors in there OP8 review . now Nord is even inferior to OP8 , so u know why Camera is being criticised.
On a Positive Note , For a normal user who does not pixel peep , OnePlus Nord will be very good (Daylight) , Nighttime is Ok ( Still below OP8 , Realme 6 Pro etc) , , therefore the camera is at par with likes of Realme 6i ,Realme 6 in Daylight & Nighttime. But for Normal Users its Fine , so Nord is for those who want Good / Excellent Software Experience , Good Display , Good Selfie Camera Setup & Good 48Mp OIS Camera. It is not for MidRange Photographers but if someone wants OnePlus experience he can go for it.
Nord could have made the mark, if it had the following specifications.
1. FHD IPS LCD NO Notch 60 Htz display comparable to the one Apple iPad employs with a Gorilla glass front with matt plastic back
2. Head and chin space as is in Meizu 16T because it serves as a palm resting space when you use the phone in landscape mode.
3. Snapdragon 730 or 690 5G processor
4. 8 GB RAM with 128 GB UFS internal storage with NO SD card slot (because today's SD cards are not reliable. Moreover, other memory variants aren't necessary to converge consumer's concentration.
5. 12 + 12 + 12 MP wide, ultrawide and telephoto Sony main cameras with OIS for the wide camera alone.
6. 8 MP or more Sony front camera according to the budgeted cost
7. 3.5 mm Audio Jack
8. Dual speakers one at the top and one at the bottom since it wouldn't cost more.
9. 5000 mA battery
10. USB type C port
11. Side mounted finger print scanner.
A mobile with the above specifications should definitely cost less than the asking price of Nord. Moreover, it would be a Pixel 4a killer. The major cost cutting is done, by not employing a OLED 90Htz cosmetic display, by not providing a under display - optical fingerprint scanner, by not providing a glass back and by employing a cheaper processor instead of 765G. Those who prefer faster processors could choose OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro. 3.5 mm jack is necessary because it is a budget device which is not chosen by the rich. Consumers who choose budget devices would definitely opt for budget earphones and hence the 3.5 mm jack. But, no mobile manufacturing company would go for the above specifications because it would be a flagship killer. Even if they manufacture one, will they have a heart to price it cheaper ?
PaulMihai, 16 Sep 2020Hmm, I actually did not consider nokia although I heard they got back in the game in the last ... moreThere is nothing wrong in choosing any device because you are going to change it anyway in an year or two. Just enjoy your Nord until you change it. I don't like Chinese devices other than OnePlus because of bloatwares. I choose Pixel 4a because of its price and since it is clutter free. Moreover, I choose it because it is the Android Phone which is taken care of by Google themselves. I badly need a 3.5mm jack, since I have many high quality DJ headphones. I don't even need a finger print sensor. I rely only on Passwords.
Subramanian CN, 16 Sep 2020To be honest, as you have said, I would like to be nice with you now, by answering one of your... moreHmm, I actually did not consider nokia although I heard they got back in the game in the last 2 years or so.
A new phone is the Poco X3 that every review praises and it really looks like very good value for money. But there is always a catch, in my opinion, the software is horrendous it even has ads embedded in it( although you can disable them) and I'm not sure about the availability.
I was also set un buying the Pixel 4a or maybe 5. Tried the 4a thanks to a friend from another country and I really liked it especially the size of it. I was really set on waiting for the Google devices to launch but the ear speaker failed on my lg and the 4a is not available in my country so after a thorough search I got to this OnePlus that had everything I wanted except for the size and the big notch.
How can I use the add user option (multiple users) , l add other user 2 times but only adding can see it after display off I can't open it. Pls answer how can I open the other user
PaulMihai, 16 Sep 2020Oh they actually posted my message... it disappeared while I was writing it .
What's w... moreTo be honest, as you have said, I would like to be nice with you now, by answering one of your old questions. It is that, I don't own the device. But, I used my friend's device for a day since he wanted to sell it. Since, I didn't like it, I returned it back.
I think no one writes here because it is their business. It is just but sharing their happiness or grievances about the device or sharing of opinions in general.
To your remarks, I honestly admit that there are plenty... of devices worst than Nord. I don't share my opinions in those device's opinion column, even if I get a chance to use those devices because, I feel that it is not worth it. But, I have written a lot about Nord and Nokia 7.2 because I really wanted them. There is a lot of difference between a ball hit by "Dhoni" and by another player who is not a batsman. Nord shouldn't be the ball hit by OnePlus. It is just like all other Chinese brands, if it doesn't had their OxygenOS-UI in it. Since, OnePlus is a company that scores well, I expected a lot from them, though they are also from China.
To make things more understandable, there were lot of rumours about Nokia 6.3 that it would come with the following specifications.
24mp main camera
12 mp ultrawide camera
Macro and Depth sensing cameras
16 mp selfi camera
730 Qualcomm processor.
I really want a budget device like this. I don't care about the glass back. Moreover, I don't like quad-bayer cameras. To be specific I don't even need a Macro camera. But, I NEED a clutter free UI. But, if Nokia 6.3 comes with a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, or with mediocre cameras, or with a small battery, or with a mediocre display, or with no display protection, or without a 3.5mm jack, or with a hefty price tag, it would put everyone in rage, those who really wanted this device. People expect something only from good companies. I truly admit that OnePlus is a good company.
To end up, I was expecting a good Nord. But, they've replied no to me. Now, I am expecting a good Nokia 6.3 or 7.3. If they too say no, I will settle down with Pixel 4a. The only thing I dislike in Pixel 4a is its display hole because I like no notch displays. I don't like to spend more on mobiles because I don't spend much time with them. I am not on any Social Network. I allow people to contact me only by calling or by messaging or through emails. To my belief, spending money on mobiles is not worth it. But, I use to study a lot from www using my computer. I truly admit that I should've replied to you politely. Anyway, Thanks and Good luck.
Subramanian CN, 15 Sep 2020Firstly, even your first statement contradicts you opinion. Arguments arise just because you d... moreOh they actually posted my message... it disappeared while I was writing it .
What's with the hostile attitude!?
Like I said I accepted your point of view and responded with my opinions so people that read your comments know that what you are saying is not necessarily everybody's opinion.
That's the reason I responded to your message not to "boost sales of the nord" if that is a secondary effect all the better because it's a great phone and I hope it works out for them so we can see other models in the upcoming years.
With my second point I was trying to be nice, because if you don't own or tried the divice you don't even have a business posting your opinions about it without mentioning that you are not talking from personal experience.
My comment about the plastic frame is actually correct. Again, I was trying to be nice by not actually saying you are totally wrong about that a quick search will give you all the proof you need .
I did not say it was made for those that don't like music I said that the missing jack could be an inconvenience to those that have wired 3.5 mm jack headphone and have to use an adaptor.
Please don't put word's into my mouth.
You can post your view and opinions all you want
but it would be sensible to post those views on something you actually have experience with because people that come and read this comments could make a purchase desicion based on the opinion of a man/woman that does not even own the phone he is commenting about...
