30k, 07 Aug 2014Hello Doc G, Thanks for your valuable inputs. I am looking to buy Find 7a but have some doubt... moreWell, it does ask you to move a large app to sd by default. Secondly the network is fantastic on this esp 3g browsing. Call quality is very good. Low in call volume was fixed with an update. 4g connectivity is available in india. This phone is a beast.
oppo, 03 Sep 2014Hello, Can any of the user can comment on dual call n dual active function.Despite Find7 having space on formatter board for the second SIM, that is missing the parts and software to make it active.
As such, the phone comes with a single SIM support, and whether you can have call waiting while in the call or not depends on settings at your operator.
Find 7 does not support dual SIM.
Hello, Can any of the user can comment on dual call n dual active function.
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2014is it true that it has only 3gb of memory set aside for installing apps? You can repartition it, though. In this case to 7 GB:
Please note this is NOT a tutorial. I managed to repartition my Find7a and am just outlining the steps that took.
The procedure consists of a few steps.
You will need the following:-
1. TWRP recovery from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/find7a
2. An SD card
3. A computer with access to fastboot and adb.
This is the partition layout of the find 7a

Put the phone into fast boot mode. (Power Volume Up simultaneously)
From the computer (I use linux so I am not sure how to do this from Windows (I do not own a windows computer)) in terminal
#: fastboot devices ( check that fastboot is up and running)
#: fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-220.127.116.11-find7a.img
The phone will boot into twrp.
Connect the phone and go into adb
#: adb shell
now use dd to backup all the partitions
#: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p(USE PARTITION NUMBER) of=/external_sd/backup/APPROPRIATE NAME.img
You can now use twrp to backup the ROM to sd card.
After the backup it is time to use parted to delete and recreate the partitions as required.
What follows is the commands I used in adb shell. Please note that I for some reason could not recreate the final GROW
partition but my system worked fime without it. Perhaps I was too ambitious to make the /data partition 7g.
~ # parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
GNU Parted 18.104.22.168.179-aef3

Information: You may need to update /etc/fstab.
I just copied the above from my adb window. Pleas examine it carefully do not copy blindly.
Now we need to create the file systems on the partitions that need it.
~ # mke2fs -t ext4 -m 0 -L userdata /dev/block/mmcblk0p15
~ # tune2fs -c 0 -i -1 -C -1 /dev/block/mmcblk0p15
~ # mke2fs -t ext4 -m 0 -L userdata /dev/block/mmcblk0p17
~ # tune2fs -c 0 -i -1 -C -1 /dev/block/mmcblk0p17
Now restore the persist partition and the other partitions that were not changed just moved.
dd if=/external_sd/ image name of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p partition number
reboot into bootloader
boot into twrp and restore the backup.
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2014is it true that it has only 3gb of memory set aside for installing apps?Yes, 2.95 GB…
However I have set the default installation location to phone storage (SD Card) and it installs those apps that can work from SD card there.
So I don't see it as a big problem, unless you're installing stuff that can't run from SD.
is it true that it has only 3gb of memory set aside for installing apps?
Loved it.. Got it a day back.. And there's nothing to not like about it.. Just if it was a bit more compact, like 5.2" screen it would be perfect.. But this isn't bad either.. Awesome screen, amazing speakers and a camera like no other.. And such build quality, that biggest brands can't match it.. Coming from HTC one which I loved btw, just the camera was an issue with that purple tint, I searched a lot, saw a lot of reviews, then noted down all I wanted in a phone in a certain budget.. Only this one phone fit the list of criteria beautifully.. N m sooo glad I bought this over LG g3 at 12k less..
Boro mkd., 13 Aug 2014Oppo ist best company ever.I know now for sure.I have updated my phone 3 times in 2 weeks.Best... moreFunny part is when people look at Oppo products and consider them so good… then you tell them it's a Chinese brand and they get shocked.
Most people consider Chinese brands to be cheap rubbish. And seeing what Oppo has done (and a handful of other companies), they've taken that perception and threw it out the window.
The functionality rivals all the big names. The production quality is immaculate. The operation is well sorted, with lots of things that you wonder "why didn't the big guys think of this"…
AnonD-284488, 16 Aug 2014Thanks for your review. If possible, can you also confirm if the phone supports USB host funct... moreI've only tried SanDisk double sided USB stick (that has microUSB on one side and normal USB on the other) and that worked. Didn't try anything else, though.
abhijit Patil, 12 Aug 2014Been using this mobile from past 2 weeks, below is the review.
Hats off... moreI agree with most, but…
I do not have yellow tint on the screen on neither Find7 nor 7a. Both screens are perfect. They are both less than a month old, though, so this may develop later?
It takes me considerably longer to charge the phones. Yes, 75% is below 30 minutes, but the remaining 25% takes about 40-45 minutes more.
7 indeed has quadHD display, but 7a does not, it's FullHD. I must say that I prefer the way things are looking on 7a more than on 7. And I definitely prefer the battery life of 7a. On light use it lasts me 2 days, on heavier use it still goes comfortably through the day with 30% or so to spare in the evening.
The standby (on wifi, 1 exchange email, Line, WhatsApp, FB) takes 1% off the battery every 2.5-3 hours. Which is better than on other phones. Obviously when you start using it, the battery drains faster, but as said, on 7 much faster than on 7a, by a factor of about 3-4x.
On camera, it is obviously noisy in low light, but compared to ZenFone which touts that owl mode, it still does a whole lot better job than Zen. And a lot better job than many others, including Xperia Z2 (which is total rubbish on camera) and Samsung S5 - both are supposed to be in the top of the camera phones offering. That said, small, high resolution sensors have physical limits, and there's only that far you can push a Sony sensor of that pixel size.
Finally on the packaging… yes… I mean Oppo has some special interest in packaging. The bluray players come with a carry bag, the headphones in rosewood box that's more suitable for some fine jewellery than a set of cans, then these phones - yes, they certainly look something very special.
Completely opposite from Apple trying to cut down on packaging cost, and making boxes smaller, lighter, thinner… Oppo makes them… something that even if the phone died, you'd want to keep the box :)
Good review, thank you.
abhijit Patil, 12 Aug 2014Been using this mobile from past 2 weeks, below is the review. PACKAGING (10/10): Hats off... moreThanks for your review. If possible, can you also confirm if the phone supports USB host functionality?
The overheating, is it bearable? Or is it worse than nexus 5? Oppo just launched here and they have offered me a massively discounted introductory price cos i was among the rare people who recognized oppo and asked for the find 7a. Im seriously considering taking up their offer
aryan-rocky, 19 Mar 2014its good for emerging market!I own Find 7a and OnePlus and it's a real tossup between the two. Both are my best phones ever, with ridiculously low price by comparison to major brands HTC, Samsung, LG. Apple - well, screw you...
Does the Oppo Find 7a have USB host functionality?
Oppo ist best company ever.I know now for sure.I have updated my phone 3 times in 2 weeks.Best phone I ever had is oppo find 7a finally something high quality and affordable price.Thank you Oppo .

Been using this mobile from past 2 weeks, below is the review.
Hats off to oppo for the most amazing packaging no mobile has such an amazing packing
The build is very good & it feels amazing in the hand & yes it feels like a very expensive phone & most people have complimented the phone. The reason that I have gave rating 8/10 because removing the back cover of the phone is a headache as there is no slot to put your figure nail as we have in other mobiles; also the power button is on left side of the phone which makes it easy to use for a left handed person.
Display (6/10) :
The display is amazing Quad HD display feels great for gaming/movies as well, you will definitely love it. The problem with the display is that the mobile has a “Yellow Tint” to it & the tint is visible when you have a white screen for example if you are viewing the groups on whats-app you can see the lover groups/contact have a slightly milky color that the top most contact which has white color. The reason for providing the rating this low is because for a 31K mobile I do not want to see a yellow tint any time I start my mobile, also due to the yellow tint you won’t be able to put light color (white) wallpapers as you will notice the yellow tint every time you unlock the device.
Performance (8/10) :
The hardware seems to be very good so gaming is amazing. Any games will run like a charm; however there is a heating problem, so the back side of the phone will heat up after some time of gaming. The Color OS seems to be buggy I keeps on crashing application like Contacts/Photos and various other application, after paying 31K I do not expect applications to keep on crashing. If you ask for the frequency of crashing I would say 1 application crash is seen in around every 3 days & the applications that crash varies.
The charging is superfast you will definitely love it. Around 40 min to charge the entire phone from 0 to 100%, so it will definitely spoil your habit as you will get used to fast charging & it would be difficult for you to switch to other phone. The issue now the battery like is average with 3G on & average calls the battery goes from 100% to 13% in 16 hrs, but the super-fast charging compensates that.
Both the cameras provide very good images in normal lights & have a amazing focus speed, however the image Quality is not that great in low lights.
Amazing phone & if you have purchased it please do not try to figure out the yellow tint as once you see it you will always see it & if you want to buy this phone please remember that when you show a 31K mobile to your friends with a yellow tint on it, you can understand the response.
I asked the customer service from OPPO India about the yellow tint & asked them to resolve the issue, below is the response I received.
Thanks for contacting us!
As per your query we would like to inform you that we have employed a general industrial design for the OPPO Find 7a LED backside light, which appears brighter at the bottom of the screen. For the evenness of the screen light, we set a gradual change area at the bottom to darken the bright light.
Therefore, some products will show a partial yellow haze at the bottom from some angles
So its confirmed that if you get any product issue it will definitely be as per design, so no replacement, hence reducing the rating for this product from 4 to 2 because if I spent 31K I do not expect any visible issues in the phone.
Anonymous, 08 Aug 2014Does it support 4g LTE band in India? Nope... It doesnt... The 4g LTE band in India is that of 2300 frequency which is not available in the above phone
