Introduction

The Oppo Find X9 Pro has just gone global and is bringing some impressive hardware. There's a lot to like about it outside of its two most obvious selling points, but we'll be quick to admit we're mostly fixated on its massive battery and the new telephoto camera with an optional add-on extender lens.

The Find X9 Pro swaps out the two telephotos of the previous model for a single new higher-res 200MP unit. It's a larger sensor too, and paired with a lens that focuses super close. vivo has been doing it for a while, now Oppo is taking its own shot at a transformative telephoto experience. That transformation can be taken a step further with the optional telephoto extender that offers 10x optical zoom to 230mm.

Going back to the 7,500mAh battery - we're not used to getting such capacities on high-end handsets and even when we hear of huge batteries in some markets, they usually don't make it to where we are. Well, Oppo has cleared whatever regulatory hurdles have gotten in the way before, and the Find X9 Pro comes with a promise for chart-topping endurance.

We'd be moderately worried about charging speed with such a high-capacity battery, so let's hope Oppo's 80W SuperVOOC is up to the task. The 6.78-inch OLED display is all sorts of great, now supposedly even brighter. And then there's the new chipset, of course - the latest top-tier Dimensity. The new selfie camera is another most welcome development, and we'd almost have missed the improved main camera with all that telephoto excitement. We told you there was a lot to like here.

Oppo Find X9 Pro unboxing

Our review unit arrived in a stylish gray (or is it silver?) retail box with a large "9" dominating the front to indicate the generation and a couple of Hasselblad references here and there. It's a half-height box, so no charger, at least in our neck of the woods.

Inside the box, there's a regular USB-A-to-C cable, as well as a male Type-C to female Type-A adapter. All the packaging is made of paper, for what that's worth.

There's no protective case inside the box, but Oppo sent us the optional aramid snap-on cover that you can get at an extra cost. That's not to be confused with the (otherwise almost identical, but different where it matters) aramid cover you need for the Teleconverter Kit - more on that later.

Its charging is chaotic, but the phone good. There is no stability or system in it. For example, the OnePlus 13 charges stably.

"I think because two lens now share the same sensor, there is 1. less light hitting the sensor and 2. lower lens fidelity because of how it has been engineered." What do you mean by that? Every sensor has its own lens. This is not Huaw...

Well, I keep telling all of you - your choice to listen to paid reviewers and not someone who actually has those phones for years - right?
