So, it's back to the megapixel race then. After Altek announced their 14MP Leo yesterday, it's now turn for Panasonic to get higher on the megapixel ladder. The company has just set-up a teaser site for their Lumix phone, which should be announced officially on Tuesday.
Panasonic has been generous enough to reveal a few of the specs in advance so we know what to expect. First it's the 13 megapixel snapper, which we hope will live up to the Lumix digicams standards. There's also HD video and a high-intensity video light (we have our fingers crossed on a xenon flash too).
The Lumix phone will pack a 3.3" WVGA screen in a body measuring 116 x 52 x 17mm and weighing 146 grams. The final mentioned specs include Wi-Fi and a microSD card slot.
Now with that kind of thickness and the fact that the handset is going to be announced at the CEATEC in Japan (on the 5th of October) we are suspecting that it won't see much GSM love. We are certainly hoping to be proven wrong and the Lumix phone to get worldwide availability. Could the chubbiness be a result of optical zoom lens, rather than clamshell form factor?

Woah this is a huge step for camera phones..then all other companies like canon, nikon, leica etc..will follow and be lending there lenses for cellphone makers.
