man the fone company acatel cannot be found anywhere. I have looked at ebay and many other big marketing websties and there is no clue where acatel is. So so far i have learned that this company is weak in marketing. I dont want a phone which no one in U.S. has heard of.

No matter how good the phone can be, Philips BCT will not manage to sell it right because the marketing is failing, they always put ahead the wrong features

I read all these comments and I can say only this: Color display on any brand is big shit. Can you tell me what do you see on your phones' display in the sunlight. Nothing, of course. Especially those who have Nokias. The best phone ever made is, surely, PHILIPS XENIUM 9@9. No one, even Philips can make such good phone again.

The battery life is fucking shit on this model. Very bad for Philips which has in general the best batteries. What a mistake.

Maybe not all models (?).
I like Philips, but theis brand has already stopped some products since few years like Car Systems (sale to VDO), Fax (sale to Sagem), Camcorder....
I don't know why Philips will continue to produce Mobile phone because date of release are already to late compare with some others brands.
Please release shortly the 855 and after a WCDMA/UMTS model !

Now, I've the 535 (before : Fisio 820).
I want buy this 855, the "high-end Philips model for 2004". But Philips has announced it wants produce only "Middle end models" in the future.
Hope for a WCDMA/UTMS model from Philips
next year, maybe show during 3GSMCongress or Cebit.
Do you know when the 855 will be release in Europe (June/July ?)

does anyone have info on the polyphonic ringtones for this phone? as for the ppl saying that philips shouldn't produce phones...there obviously are demands for their phones and that's why they're out in the market. and with alcatel...the brand name itself is not even very well known. ask anybody in north america, i bet u that half the population don't know what alcatel is, not to mention the fact that they make phones!
