Very good phone. How ever I think that Philips made mistake to not make it with touchscreen
Does it use a Linux Qtopia platform? Where can we find softwares for it then? Any useful websites? Thanks.
Before saying something about SE and Samsung only making Software, and that the hardware is Philips... I would give you one advise...
Please open a random SE or Samsung and try to make a photo of all that Philips hardware.... I think you can't...
SE (Ericsson offcourse) and Samsung are the once who make it themself mostly... And did you ever saw a open Siemens C62? What was in there? Yes, Ericsson hardware...
Actually, Samsung copied Siemens SL55, so...
About this Philips... I want it!!!!
Not just those, all of the Nokia phones run on Philips chips as well.
This phone is great, but they'd better realease it soon or they'll miss the boat.
All the chips in the samsung D500, D600 and so on are provided by Philips (semiconductors). Also the SonyEricsson P910/SE Z800 are powered by Philips chips. So many of todays hottest phones are using Philips chips, the only thing Samsung and SE do is creating software and a cool package, the real hardware is designed by Philips ;)
If it's a 'DIRECT' copy of the D500 then why does it have a better camera, screen and have an expansion slot? I think you mean the D600......
I can see that you are having problem with your phone and i also willing to buy the phones and the phone am using now is Nokia 7710,Philips 960,Samsung D5000 and They are all Brand new Phones, Which i dont quite understand the way of operating them and willing to exchange witha nother phones and I;m still with the pack so please let me know if you are intersted in this deal and the type of phone you have so that we can exchange the phone.
I will need to have your name and address with postal code so i can contact you soon as possible.
I always knew that Philip Phones were a copy This phone is a 'DIRECT' Carbon Copy of Samsung D-500 model, which was this years GSM awards winner. Philips should stick to their TV's and Microwaves and leave the Mobile Phone industry to the professionals like Nokia, Motorola Ect.
Philips high-end model for 2005 (In Europe where all models aren't available like 766,868,968).
Great but Philips often is too slow for release models.
Nokia 6280 cominf soon. Please Philips, release the 960 shortly. I want it (September will be great !)
what a fantastic phone from philips .
sd ram & camera & finally bluetooth !!!
Koooool phone from Philips,
but it only got a TFT,262K colours and 176 x 220 screen..
waitin for update..
Philips 968 has a 240 x 320 display, as announced officially. So if Philips 960 is the high-end or top model from Philips, then its display should be no worse than Philips 968.
bad news everyone. mobile-review.com says that the display is not 240x320 but only 176x220. no qvga screen after all? can anyone check/comment on this?
To zgodly and duttway, I got the info from a reliable source that Philips 960 is equipped with a 2.0 MP CCD camera.
Finally... a high end phone from Philips (unfortunately no touch-screen).
When will it be available in Indonesia? Can't wait..
VERY Good Phone from Philips. Keep up the good work of giving us affordable and quality phones. Philips was a contender in the mobile phone market and looks like they are really making a come back. Cheers!
hey man.. u have to take into account the price of the phone eh... nokia and SE might cost a lot more than Philips...
It's up to the public :) but i like the design....cant wait to try the phone :)
By the way, 968 has already been announced in Philips Hong Kong homepage. But 960 is not yet shown.
So if 968 is gonna hit the market in summer holiday, then don't tell me 960 is aimed at Xmas!!!!!!!
I agree too, that radio is not that important when consider buying your new mobile phone. Philips 960 has got all the necessary features. I think reliability is much more important, which is also a bonus feature for Philips. So I myself is also waiting for 960 as well :)
