Realme confirms GT6 model, global rollout for series

Realme Android

Straight from the cover of Forbes, Realme founder and CEO Sky Li announced that the GT series is returning to the global market after a two-year absence. The series recently staged a comeback in India with the Realme GT 6T.

In his interview, Li said that “upcoming GT 6 will surpass expectations in every aspect”. Yes, “GT 6”, not the 6T. The phone will focus on performance and (of course) AI, its tagline is “New Flagship Killer Powered by AI”.

Looking past Li’s interview for a moment, we have seen photos of the Realme GT6 retail package (with more than a few AI features named on the box). This phone is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is (supposedly) more powerful than the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 that is inside the 6T. Other than that, the phone has the same 5,500mAh battery (per the FCC) and will feature similar 100W fast charging (vs. 120W for the 6T, though that might be a regional variation). There seems to be a GT6 Pro on the way too. That’s all on the down-low, an official announcement of the phone(s) is coming soon.

Back to Li’s interview, the CEO says that Realme fans around the world have expressed interest in the return of the powerful GT series and Realme has obliged. As you can tell by the tagline, this isn’t a flagship, instead the focus will be on delivering performance and cutting edge features at a reasonable price.

Realme also has a specific target audience for the GT6 in mind – young users. Usually, they don’t have the finances for an out and out flagship but are more in tune with recent developments in tech, so the GT6 positioning makes sense.

Like we mentioned, the GT series already returned to India and Realme has more markets in mind: the “GT series will be launched in Italy, India, Indonesia, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Brazil, Poland, Turkey,Saudi Arabia and more”, according to a post on X.

Li has interesting thoughts on the future of the industry: “The competition in the industry will shift from hardware alone to a combination of hardware, software, and overall technological capability. AI is becoming the next hotly contested spot, AI imaging, voice and interaction will be the three major trends on the future development of AI.”

Nothing. Because I couldn't care less what information the Chinese government are collecting from me. They are out of my jurisdiction, and they can't do nothing. I care when US companies collecting data, because you see that it matters ...

That's good news. Now I wonder if this will be a success, because I'm hoping for more options for this type of phones.
