Redmi announced its latest smartwatch in India today with the Redmi Watch 5 Active. The wearable features Bluetooth calling with clear+ noise cancellation, a 2-inch IPS LCD touchscreen, and up to 18 days of battery endurance.

Redmi Watch 5 Active gets a square 2-inch LCD with 320 x 385px resolution and 500 nits of brightness. The watch features a metallic body crafted with zinc alloy. The watch boots Xiaomi HyperOS and pairs over Bluetooth 5.3 with any Android 6.0+ or iOS 12+ device with the Mi Fitness companion app.

You get 200+ customizable watch faces, and tracking for 140+ sports and workout modes with automatic workout detection. Redmi Watch 5 Active also does your standard 24/7 health monitoring with support for heart rate tracking, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, and stress monitoring.

It supports onboard Amazon Alexa, quick replies for messages, up to ten favorite contacts, and a dedicated keypad dialer. Redmi Watch 5 Active is IPX8-rated against water submersion up to 1m. It features a 470mAh battery which Redmi claims should last you 12 days with heavy usage and up to 18 days with less demanding use case.

Redmi Watch 5 Active comes in Midnight Black and Matte Silver colors. Pricing starts at INR 2,799 ($33). Open sales start on September 3 from Xiaomi online and retail stores, Amazon India, and other partnering retailers.

Ah you may be right. Still i have compared the brightness on lcd oled and smiled devices this year and found they are all good if the nits and viewing angles are good. I think i heard the AM part of Amoled was the extra layers yes and white they may ...

The AM in Amoled means 'advanced matrix' which refers to the touchscreen half of the screen layers not then light layer. The OLED part is the screen itself, O-led display backlit like any good monitor or phone. The nits could be different, ...
