Being a Nokia fan, i so very want to buy 1520. But using several Lumia phones i realise i would still have to make many compromises with a Lumia as its universe of possibilities is very limited vis-a-vis Andorid still today.. just hope that MS bridges all the gaps asap..
Duc, 02 Jan 2014Note 3 cannot beat Lumia 1520 in term of image quality. Please recheck it!As shocked as we all were it happened. It was not without any advantage. Still a little better on noise and colors. But overall detail despite beingsmaller and lacking OIS the Note too a lead. Maybe there will be an update or enhancement.

Software, function, and features are quite a bit off. And quality apps?? They both had quality apps already. Wp just does not seem to be getting as much development of apps yet.

Nokia cam with all its bells and whistles and still it was a "Tie" in daylight stills????

Using Android since 4 years (Xperia X10>Desire HD>One X)
I was thinking to try windows phone this time and Lumia 1520 definitely got my attention but still i am not convinced.
Will go with Note 3 for now and check back in a year or two again. :)
lets agree that the note 3 is the better overall, but hey, in a year or 2 , we cant say its still the same.
It seems that WP is catching Android really fast and with a slight advantage quality apps and user interface... Go Nokia and MS!!!

Jackshyan, 01 Jan 2014I don't get the sunlight legibility part, the Lumia 1520 suppose to have the upper hand.It doesn't. The Note 3 has a brightness of 660nits, not to mention the contrast of a samoled display.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 2014I've found that MixRadio causes sometimes the screen to turn itself off right after unlocking.... moreI don't use mixradio and i mean that when I opened up the phone with a song on and nothing else the tiles were frozen and would not move.
Gelvin - Maximus, 01 Jan 2014Indeed no true match. To be precise, a worthy competitor. Why? This is the first generation Wi... moreThird generation? Yes. First to market with a "true" phablet which was worth it? Yes. Samsung took a big risk back in 2011 with the original Note, and it paid off. A phablet from any other company back then would have been disastrous. HTC couldn't have pulled it off w/ Sense, especially considering that the HTC One Max isn't big on sales today. No one really wanted Windows Phone 7 back then. Dell's Streak was popular, but not a phablet. It also had a terrible resolution for a 5" device.
Being that Samsung has long since laid out the blueprint to success, everyone has been trying to follow suit. Competitors have studied it as closely as possible, but none have gotten it right.
With today's technological advancements in software, and with the 1520 releasing after the Note 3, there is no excuse. Let's be honest here. Great hardware is readily available to everyone. Samsung is winning with feature rich software, which is a complement to the hardware they choose.
With the S5 and Note 4, Samsung will raise the bar even higher. Who's going to jump and try to reach it in 2014?
Happy New Year!

Google vs Microsoft note 3 has no match now. Its in category of it own
organshifter, 01 Jan 2014This is a hands down victory for The Note 3. The 1520 is a nice device, but no true match here.Indeed no true match. To be precise, a worthy competitor. Why? This is the first generation Windows Phone 8 Lumia phablet while the Note 3 is "Third" generation Samsung phablet.
