Anonymous, 24 Feb 2014Does it work with sideload? If so then im happy since google service is one of the most anoyi... moreYes it does support sideloading and also there are like 15 Android app stores to choose from. And yes, it should work better without Google spyware running all the time. :-)

Can't they just offer Nokia N9 users the ability to upgrade to this new " android meego WP " OS
my nokia N9 is away better spec than this phone and with this new os it will rock all new x series

Some important information plz read this.
Taken from international business times.

Nokia's future:

In regard to Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's phone-making business, Elop explained his company's future: "Lumia continues to be our primary smartphone strategy and gives people the benefit of Microsoft cloud-based services. [The] Nokia X family serves fast-growing affordable smartphone segment for people in growth markets. X will generally be priced below the Lumia family.

"Customers should expect to see in the future Lumia getting cheaper, and X pushed up to just below that. Nokia X gives people a gateway to Microsoft.

"Nokia X becomes a feeder system for Lumia, deliberately using Android without Google's cloud services, instead substituting MS and Nokia services. Introduces the next billion people to Microsoft."

Microsoft's cloud, not Google's:

Essentially, the Nokia X and Nokia X+ are running a forked version of Android, in the same way Amazon does with its Kindle Fire tablets. It may be Android, running Android applications, but most users would consider this to be Nokia's own user interface with much in common with Windows Phone.

This approach allows Android developers to easily bring their apps to the Nokia X in just a few hours, or even less than that.

The sub-€100 range is a "massive opportunity" for Nokia, with that area expected to grow four times faster than the rest of the smartphone market.

This hands on is far better than the verge.
The Verge thinks that a 100 EUR is supposed to be blazing fast.

In regular android we have the option to not sync contacts, the people app in Nokia X+ is like WP crap or otherwise? like if I don't want to put my contacts online at all? Anyone please do check!

Does Nokia X+ works without a Google or Microsoft account? I have people with no email addresses.

Nokia is one of the best brand. With the new ceo nw.
Nokia X and X+ seems to be like asha only. The main disadvantage for them is the FIXED FOCUS camera. Which nearly no android user would like to switch to. NOKIA XL must be worth it. As it contains the lumia 525 camera as per specs.
Inshort, nokia must have choosed to have few dollars more on every phone which must have been no compromise for the Nokia fans to have better camera hardware. AUTOFOCUS camera is must today. Nokia may have developed tiles view for smooth operation at low Hardware. Screen size are perfect. But a Mid-Ranger with Gorrilla glass and newer technologies might have been best as a newly Nokia droid.
Else Nokia have an excellent hardware. So this normal hardware may not disappoint the droid users.

One I was so excited about this phone but when I heard that it can't download apps from Google Play store either it is using Nokia store to download apps then I have totally changed my decision of buying it I will better go for Samsung galaxy s duos ii... And I want to ask Nokia that if they are not using the Google services for their phone so why they modified their OS to make their own company profit...

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2014They only forked Android into Windows Phone...they are NOT actually running on Android systemAs far as I know it is Android. Forked means they have made changes which result in the interface change. It's very similar to what Amazon did with their kindles, which are also forked versions of Android.
