Windows really needs to fix the memory if u have a 8GB phone you should a least have 6GB user storage. If u 16GB you should have at least 14GB of user storage. Please get rid of OTHER storage it takes up 235MB and same goes for media and files.I have everything on my sd card and no apps downloaded on my lumia 521. And its saying i only have 4.9 GB free. PLEASE PLEASE FIX THE MEMORY.
WP 8.1 is a big improvement compared to WP8 and it continues to grow. Android fans keep saying WP is crappy but I want them to show me a 100euro android phone that can play Asphalt 8 without lag just like my Lumia 520.
AnonD-9070, 08 May 2014The file manager is already announced. Expected to land in may or early June... Bing it 😊 There has never been any official communication About the file manager sir. All what everyone is banking on is propaganda from a guy who once worker at MS and no longer has no dealings in whatsoever. So get hopes and know u should never never damped your cash to buying a windows gadget. Am crying everyday I look at this nk1520 of the cash I wasted buy junk equipment.
desparetly waiting for it!!!

There have been speculations that wp8.1 will put a file manager. No one is currently making a mention of anymore. Its a long awaited feature but in GSMARENA review stipulated it as a missing feature. HW r we gona continue like this
This "bulshit O/S" dosent has option to enter Subject to MMS etc.... so this is still behind Symbian OS also.... NOKIA did a big mistake by appointing Mr Stephen Elop as CEO on it & now it was sold out by him.... beleve me if NOKIA used Android since the begining of Windows Phone OS, they would be the major role in smart phone market now....
Wordament Snap Attack is now available for WP8

AnonD-249106, 06 May 2014WP 8.1 is great! To all the haters - shut up & get out! :)Just doesn't have great games everyone plays at the moment, like Clash of Clans. Otherwise, yep, a great OS build by beginner programmers.

It's a chicken and egg thing of course, but market share is continuing to climb and this update will only help. Microsoft is also working hard to make it easier for developers by allowing them to reuse code they've used for the desktop OS on the mobile OS.

Lol, yes it can, and if any other android phone can't, then there are tons of apps on the play store that do that. Now can your phone use a different launcher? For example, can you make it look like iOS, android or windows, anything else but WP8? No.

Microsoft's major role in this is to make things as easy as possible for developers and to increase market share which they are working hard on achieving. With more market share developers will have more incentive to produce apps for the platform.

There are already signs that developers are taking windows phone more seriously now. Just today it was announced that the game "Blazin Aces" will be released for iOS and Windows phone simultaneously, ahead of Android.

AnonD-258954, 30 Apr 2014WP was late to the party, and playing catch-ups with this WP8.1 update isnt going to help them... moreYou make it sound like things never change. Those who now use iPhone will always use iPhone and those who now use Android will always use Android. Is that what you think? The reality is, not only do people get bored of the same old same old and will try new things, windows phone is also continuing to improve so it's not like the features that are missing now are always going to be missing.
Isn't it obvious with the length of this article outlining all the improvements that the windows phone team is working hard? And they're going to keep working hard to make improvements to existing functionality and add new functionality. With the 8.1 update there isn't much of a gap anymore and yet even with the feature gap as it was before this update, millions of people still prefer it over Android or iOS.
Market share is continuing to climb and the OS is now free to manufacturers and strict hardware requirements have been removed which makes the production of windows phones much less expensive and will result in many more handsets being made available. Just this year 9 new manufacturers have announced they will be making windows phones.
You may not be a fan of windows phone and that's fine but there are lots of good things happening for this platform that you are likely not aware of. As somebody who follows this stuff fairly closely I can pretty much guarantee you that market share will continue to increase.
And when you have as much money and expertise as Microsoft does it is never too late to jump into any market. Just look at what they did with XBox after Nintendo and Sega were already well established and had 99% of the home gaming console market wrapped up. Microsoft came in and cleaned up. There is no reason they can't do the same in mobile.
