I been using my alpha for about 3 months.when my s5 was broken. Me and other S5 user's look at my pic's and say wow you phone is way better at that. The screen is snappy and sharp you cant notice its only 720p maybe the size helps. Its fast really fast! I have really enjoyed this hand set. I just wish the IR sensor was still there for the onnow app. Battery life is comparable to an s3. This is my favorite phone I've ever owned. Period.
I've just gotten the Alpha and the experience is marvellous. The responsiveness and the download speed is breathtaking. Indeed its octa core is working well.
The feather weight frame makes holding it for long hours a breeze.
M just loving this phone am so waiting for it
1. Its looks
3. Classy look
4. Sleek design
5. Light weight
Awesome it is 👌
Samsung please make same phone (design) with 5.2 inch
..and take my money
MarkusLeto, 21 Aug 2014Another missed opportunity for Samsung to really nail it. Must be the really worn design language.Um actually the did very well.
And must be the tired design?
As compared to what?
The same old tired iphone design?
LG's copies of Samsung deisgn?
LG and only made design changes of recent because they just more recently finally found ground with a specific flagship line. And because LG is trying t veer away from Galaxy look a likes and veer away from Optimus UI looking like a Touchwiz copy and paste.
Another missed opportunity for Samsung to really nail it. Must be the really worn design language.
Anonymous, 17 Aug 2014Well actually the i-fans are the ones who criticize Apple/apple products the least. Although i... moreSadly true. People hate on Samsung for not making a "pretty" enough device.
When in reality while everyone else focuses more on design "looks" Samsung works on almost everything else. And it still looks good. Just objectively not as flashy as others.
Their designs are more ergonomic. Easier to handle. Thinner. The new material is among the most comfortable there.
Poly carbonate is overall more durable and practical than aluminum or glass. Holds less heat, better to use with water ratings. Usually means a guarantee on removable battery and SD with Samsung.
The screen is best. And camera only outdone by Nokia. Also by some in night shots....they really need to work on that.
The features regardless of what Internet whiners say are mostly optional and give a wider variety of choice to more people. And most people use at least a couple.
I can't even use cyanogenmod anymore with s3/note on because TouchWiz offers too much.
The battery life, camera tweaks, and tabbed settings.
The spen, it's functions, the linked in Samsung account across things like ChatOn and Milk music, I use group play and multi window a lot.
There are alternatives for some, but it's not the same.
And I can never use another keyboard again after the Note keyboard.
So what you are getting is a thinner, more comfortable ergonomic device that is overall more durable.
Has a better screen than all and camera that can only be rivaled.
Software that has exclusives and functions non other have..except some copies like Optimus touchwiz.
Along with removable batteries in a device already among the top in the battery life with an SD slot.........but the other one looks prettier....what a nightmare.
its performance is as good as expected with the new exynos but i agree with the article, the lack of a microsd card and the worrisome battery are two of the major turn-offs. the price for this phone should not be as high as or anywhere near the s5.
glad, 18 Aug 2014Seriously. Can you even spot the difference between 400 ppi and 500 ppi. Just curious. Not on everything, but if you have good vision yes, you can see a difference in sharpness on some things.

The size of the screen doesn't matter with AMOLED. It doesn't have a backlight like LCD. A 4.7 inch 720p AMOLED will use roughly the same power as a 5.7 inch 720p AMOLED (of the same generation).
