shame the battery is so weak even worse then s3 and no sd slot.. sorry way to expensive for what u get :(
Please change the camera style it looks like galaxy s5 & galaxy Note 3.
Anonymous, 14 Aug 2014The iPhone 6 is rumoured to have 20nm too, so it could be a close thing. Yeah.. Its going to be interesting.
Looks like once again TSMC will not be able to deliver (enough) A8 chips as their 20nm process is facing issues, so Apple might have to return to Samsung again.
Anonymous, 14 Aug 2014IMHO, the S2 was the best design put out by Samsung and I'm glad they have refined this design... moreAmong the droids by Samsung, samsung S2 looks best, But my favorite among Samsung phones is Samsung wave, Full metal body that looks stunning. Samsung never took the wave design to its droids.
Samsung use Galaxy Alpha to test ability of Iphone 6 as the first weapon then build a new flagship (May be Galaxy S6) as the second weapon on the market.
Very good strategy!
Galaxy Alpha is small knife but small knife can also kill if use in the right place.
Unexpandable memory? You guys must be following Iphone and Nokia? Isn't it? A few Smart things that are needed for a smart phone is Speed, memory and a large capacity battery. Chinese phones rule with all these. For Samsung and Apple, changing the bezel and design is all they have got in their every new phone. Nothing really technically.
AnonD-10363, 14 Aug 2014Right buddy!
People are just ignoring this fact on every thread and blindly thrashing Samsung... moreIt's not like batteries were great before 20nm so just because they made a more energy efficient cpu doesn't mean they should reduce battery capacity. Not to mention screen and radio (GPS, WiFi, 3G) still uses as much.
I can't deny that I really like this phone. First I would wait for a battery test but if it is decent I would consider this over the z1 compact. Z3 compact is on the other hand arriving soon and my guess is that it will be much better. Always happy to see more high end offerings in the mid size screen bracket.
AnonD-5666, 14 Aug 2014People are forgetting that this is the 1st mobile SOC built on 20nm process. Qualcomm is still... moreRight buddy!
People are just ignoring this fact on every thread and blindly thrashing Samsung for using a smaller battery. Open your eyes guys!!
The first 20nm mobile SoC is out and no one is talking a word about it.
this phone looks awesome!... i wish the new note 4 would have this nice aluminium frame, and an sd card slot, of course
Exynos 5430 is the first 20nm ARM CPU in the world, and should be more efficient that any of the other ARM CPU in power consumption
It also has HEVC hardware decoder. Snapdragon 801 doesn't have this (but snap 805 has it though)
Anonymous, 14 Aug 2014The size of the screen HAS to have an impact on the battery life (as does processor, resolutio... moreI didn't say that screen size (or rather pixel size) will not have any impact at all.
What I actually meant was, screen resolution has more effect on power consumption than screen size.
5.1 inch to 4.7 inch is only a small reduction whereas over 2 million pixels on S5 vs just less than a million pixels on Alpha is more than 50% reduction in the number of LED's to power, which is actually more significant than the reduction in size.
AnonD-221566, 14 Aug 2014My S2 is barely able to last 5hrs and that has a 1650mAh battery. I'd rather a Moto X over this.power efficiency is definitely improving, just compare even last year Snapdragon 600 with Snapdragon 800. Phones with the latter chip have much better battery life
People are forgetting that this is the 1st mobile SOC built on 20nm process. Qualcomm is still at 28nm.
And battery life test has showed it can do 11hr video playback. Very good efficiency from such a small battery.
