So bottom line:
In terms of-
Screen and Camera: Samsung
Build quality: HTC
Performance: Google Nexus

The screen, battery life, and low-light camera are all worse than the M8. It's enough for anandtech to say that M8 might be a better phone.
The only thing that was not good in HTC is the camera and they improved very much in it. Although not good as S6 and iPhone 6plus but a very nice camera. Guess It will be very popular than iPhone...

Next year should be better with Samsung and Qualcomm's custom CPU and GPU cores.
[deleted post]You're right. GSMA, did you make some measurements on the headphone output, as usual ? I saw that Galaxy S6 have a really great output, and I wanted to know how is M9 compared to it.
AnonD-354781, 23 Mar 2015It's due to the SoC drawing more power. Also S6 uses AMOLED which can save up a lot of energy.
HTC should at least go back to 3000+ mAh battery like they did with the Butterfly s and One Max.
This is a really good phone from H.T.C S6 is a joke lol lol lol lol
1080p video at 60FPS looks fantastic.
Audio quality test is missing.
Last year phones had great battery life. Endurance rating hit 100+ and most of phones were around 80. Now, S6 and M9 has very low battery capacity. I thought this year we'd see 130 hR endurance phone, but I'm highly disappointed. Will stick to NL1520 and S5.
AnonD-354781, 23 Mar 2015And the S6 is pushing more pixels, too. The S6 is just a better, overall device. Watch Android... moreYes, not only that, it's FPS performance on games matches the M9 while having a much higher resolution.
HTC tried to cheat the benchmark and got scores way higher than it should.
Samsung really knocked it out of the park with the S6 and the 7420.
mmj321, 23 Mar 2015M9 & S6 both have same battery life but the the battery difference between them is hugeHonestly, Anandtech's endurance rating rarely reflects average user.
Most of us use the smartphone heavily for web browsing and playing videos, so the web-browsing time and video playback time are more accurate than the endurance rating.

Well , so Snapdragon 810 does overheats...!
Some fanboys still think that overheating can be solved by ota updates...!
But the truth is...No software update can solve hardware issues...!
Well this shows that how Samsung Galaxy S6 is very efficient...!
I was expecting a good battery life out of M9 with bigger battery and the same resolution screen...i think its because of the old gen LCD tech...!
AMOLEDs are now way superior than any LCD out there...especially when it comes to power efficiency...!

Okay, the 7420 really is damn good... It's on-screen performance matches the M9 even when it's running at 1440p resolution while the M9 runs it at 1080p resolution.
This test is based on preproduction firmware. HTC just came out with an update that "fixes" overheating in certain benchmarks through throttling. This means up to 26% lower framerates in for example GFXBench T-Rex though. Meaning, buyers of the phone will not achieve results posted in this review.
