Especially after last year.
I knew that the s6 would win....but I didn't like the review.
M9 should never be compared to m8 in this review on how much has it improved in design but rather it should be compared to s6.
a better reason should have been given why s6 is better rather than saying that it has not improved on m8
for me htc wins in design, audio quality,ui and selfie cam and s6 in all other departments
M9 is suprior ..sense far better than touch lag and im wonder how does s6 win this catagory!!!:-)
Judging by the results of this article the M9 was better for it's speakers & selfies. Maybe HTC were catering to narcissistic unsociable teenagers!
Just kidding.
What struck me seeing it in the flesh was the brightness of the S6's screen. Made the new iPhones look dull.
Anonymous, 31 Mar 2015Yeah,metal unibody is better than metal+glass. And,I think most of us would prefer expandable s... moreThat would be your opinion. How exactly is metal unibody better?
The M9 retains more heat and all metal phones has have more issues with signal.
As well as the S6 uses stronger aluminum. And the Gorilla Glass 4 has shown to be extremely tough in drop tests.
Yuri84, 31 Mar 2015I've read the positives and negatives and they came down to this:
HTC over Samsung
Stereo sp... moreThe display is more than just sharper. It's sharper, brighter, less reflective, had deeper blacks, better contrast, can be turned down dimmer, better viewing angles, your choice of most color accurate, slightly saturated up to very saturated. And consumes less energy.
That is objective.
The much more superior and constant performance of the SoC with better power consumption and less heat is objective.
The dramatically faster internal storage at much higher amounts is objective.
Lacking or having SD slot is subjective thought many agree having one is better.
Which UI you prefer is subjective. Touchwiz offering much more in features and functional usage to cater to many needs and power efficiency is objective.
And Samsung has been showing to be far superior in software update cycle as well.
OIS as long as it is properly implemented and would... No questions asked objective lead. And it shows with more steady photos and videos.
Cleaner photos and video on daylight and especially low light with much clearer audio is objective.
Better overall battery life despite the smaller battery is definitely objective. Though will very some.
Samsung site has now announced the 64GB [flat] model prices.
£660 - ouch. Although sure can get it a bit cheaper if shop around/wait a few months.
Yuri84, 31 Mar 2015I've read the positives and negatives and they came down to this: HTC over Samsung Stereo sp... moreYeah, metal unibody is better than metal+glass. And,I think most of us would prefer expandable storage.for example,in 32GB version only 20GB is user available. This could prove insufficient for some heavy users.
I've read the positives and negatives and they came down to this:
HTC over Samsung
Stereo speakers
Samsung over HTC
Thinner and lighter (although I'm not sure weather that thinness is comfortable to use)
Wireless chargin (where available)
The rest is quite subjective - can you really see the difference between FHD and QHD at that screen size, in daily use? Does bigger battery really mean longer battery life or just longer charge times? Does metal unibody feel better than metal and glass in hand? Does 20mp make better photos than 16mp? Does optical stabilization really help make better pictures? Is that heart rate sensor accurate (I've seen reviews and you need to be absolutely still when taking measurements, and it may be inaccurate)? Do you really need that expandable storage, which is many times slower than proper build-in storage? Do you need a microSD slot when you phone can have 64gb or more storage on board (my LG G2 has 32gb built-in, 23gb free, and I didn't use more than 12gb total in a year)?
I'm left with more questions than answers after reading the first page. And so I'll continue my read! :D
Very nice comparison between the two phones. HTC didn't improve much over previous generation but samsung has improved a lot over S5.
S6 is the best phone to buy right now leaving the UI. They still need to remove the TouchWiz. Leaving that it is good in every way
PizzaMan, 31 Mar 2015Did you do the math of how close you need to hold a phone to your face to see 900 ppi? A few c... moreAnd yet it has better battery life than the M9 and is better in the performance category as well. Have you even read the comparison?
Anonymous, 31 Mar 2015Translation...denial. In your logic....Every phone has a speaker. So even the S1 speaker or s... moreWow, mabye the dumbest comparison of the year. A speaker can vary ALOT. It's alot of components ect. A HRM , as long as it's accurate (which the app is). It's actually really easy. Try it. Anf please
M9's screen has been proved inferior than Iphone 6,M8 in many reviews.Compare to M8 the M9's display is less balanced. And Iphone 6 display has more contrast and is far brighter than M9.This is definately not a good news for us Htc users.Specially when I was thinking to upgrade my M8.though,screen isnt everything,.but, the battery life,Camera is also not among the best.
PizzaMan, 31 Mar 2015Did you do the math of how close you need to hold a phone to your face to see 900 ppi? A few c... moreNope. Jealous bs.
The S6's display is more efficient than the S5's which was more efficient than the Note 4's which was up to 40% more efficient than 5 inch 1080p LCDs.
And there is a clear difference with proper content when put side by side.
Debunked.
Tom-Helge, 30 Mar 20151. When the screen size is so small in differences, then i rather prefer 5.1 inch over 5 inch.... moreDid you do the math of how close you need to hold a phone to your face to see 900 ppi? A few centimetres. Your eyes can't even focus that close by. The higher pixel density of the S6 is only useful if you put in in a VR headset. Otherwise it drains battery and makes games play with less frames per second.
ljames13, 31 Mar 2015well that's your opinion. and apparently, one that is far off from those of well-respected rev... morewho buys a phone to feel premium? Well respected reviewers my ass.
ah, I don't like both.
both phones are incomplete.
or, as someone said a couple years ago, "A Flawed Flagship".
Even though i dont like the s6 ,all you htc fanbois have literally nothing to boast about here- the m9 is a miserable failure in a metallic chassis.
