I hate it when (so-called) tech/review sites such as GSMA talks utterly rubbish.
"Main disadvantages: Screen has the same specs third generation in a row, when rivals have mostly moved to 1440p"
I mean, are you really serious? Is it a disadvantage? When FHD display is perfectly fine and you just can't make pixel level differences at 5.2" so why to bother and be a troll?
If others are stupid enough (just for marketing purpose of course) to use 2k knowing that it takes a toll at battery and processing but still you guys want the average-joe readers to believe that that is better is this is really "outdated". Tomorrow you'll say Samsung has moved to curved screens and Sony is still using "outdated" flat screens!
On the other instance, you are criticizing reduced battery size. Do you realize that Sony might have advanced the battery tech (already being the class leading) and hence they could reduce the thickness by giving the same performance? Other manufactures even after using the big-numbered-mah batteries, aren't able to give equivalent backup (eg, Xiaomi, etc.)
This is seriously uninspiring and stupid journalism. Looks like you guys think, bigger the number the better it is.
when will sony get rid of glas backsides ? its awful. specially in winter and its easier to break then plastic.... ughhhh
Wow, posting the 1080p screen as a disadvantage in this Preview article, just because competitors are wasting battery and processing power on this useless, marketing, pixel race, seems like idiocy to me. 350+ppi is really more than enough for any normal usage and just because Sony is not keeping up with the herd, and actually making some sense should not be seen as a disadvantage.
They create superb camera sensors for their competitors rather than their own. And rumors tell that they will make sensor for upcoming iPhone, how about on their own flagship?
Anonymous, 29 May 2015Me either, it makes me wonder why can't they just let the camera dept. focus on the camera app... moreWhile the lack of oversharpening artifacts on e.g. skies is welcome, the detail resolution is still rather low. Even the grass/leaves in the foreground are just a blob of pixels - and that has been true for all sony phones so far.
I really don't understand how they can be worse at using their own sensors. Must be because of different divisions.
The worst part of the phone is camera and Sony is one of the largest camera manufacturer. Ultimate irony..
WHAT is THESE DOTs on Z3+ Display?!?!?!?!?
AnonD-366029, 29 May 2015Looks like the camera app is still a screwed up mishmash of confusing modes. That was really t... moreMe either, it makes me wonder why can't they just let the camera dept. focus on the camera app. But as oppose to what @jamborie says, I can say that Sony finally hits the sweet spot this time in terms of the processing. To me, images at full 20.7 MP are fantastic, with great amount of details and superb color and contrast and no bothering artefacts. The problem that I think needs to be polished for the final production is the corner softness. But all in all, I can say that the quality now is much improved and it'll make a good competition. That's what I am waiting for Sony which I know ever since can pull it off. We'll wait for the final one and for the low light samples. And because of this Z3+ is becoming exciting!!!
Does anyone know the release date for this phone? And what carriers will offer it?
AnonD-400885, 29 May 2015Another rubbish camera, common Sony. Even LG G4 is miles better than this let alone the Galaxy S6.Even with a spare battery g4 will be beaten by Z3, since a spare battery Could only give 70% MAX reserve. G4 is also too fat, with hyped camera.
Looks like the camera app is still a screwed up mishmash of confusing modes. That was really the only thing wrong with the Z3. Sony makes superb cameras. Why can't they let the camera division develop the camera app?

Why don't GSMarena just wait for the final unit instead, preview may be fine but reviewing a pre-production unit just doesn't make sense to me. Hope GSMarena reviewing the final unit instead of the pre-production unit.
