AnonD-213026, 08 Jun 2015either you're just badly misinformed or you never actually had a meaningful experience with a ... moreBatt life are besides the point. By your own reckoning, Note 4 could have easily then be the real batt life king should it instead operate on FHD. And finally only Note 4 so far have got it right, all the more reason why to distrust QHD from other OEMs..
QHD at this current stage gives you what; better wallpapers OR still imaging? Or just sharpened fonts? What about multimedia content such as games, videos then and what's the SPACE USED compromise required for those?
ffs why don't we get 21" 4K TVs then? There you go...
See that's where the user ROI varies greatly. Why the eff would anyone carry a library of 2K movies on his/her phone when probably 10 hours/day of his/her time are for work and maybe less than 3 hours for commute when that's the only actual time one can use watching 2K content as an excuse to pass the time?
I don't like the iPhone 6 Plus either but if there's one thing that Apple does right is that they'd rather not risk going QHD for a lower user ROI considering the rate of Apple tax they demand.
Why does sam fanboy bashing this page. They are just jealous that their s6 and s6 edge is not waterproof, does not have best battery life, overpriced.. Just wait after a year and you can see in the comments page of s6 that these fanboys complain and question why samsung drop updates in their beloved device just like what happened to s4, s5, and their mini counterpart while z series has more than 2 1/2 years of update.
This phone is awesome! Beautiful design, waterproof, 1080p screen, microSD. The only things that would've made it better are: Close to stock Android, 4GB RAM and better camera/algorithms.
AnonD-292864, 08 Jun 2015QHD resolution is useless FHD is enough. QHD just causes low battery life and performance and ... moreeither you're just badly misinformed or you never actually had a meaningful experience with a QHD and FHD side by side. there is a noticeable difference and the former doesn't have to be a battery hog. the note 4 proves that.
The better touch controls while the display is wet sounds like a great touch.
Was really hoping for better speakers.
So pretty much it's the Z3 with an S810
Anonymous, 08 Jun 2015The problem is that the 1440p S6 with a small battery has the same battery life as the 1080p Z... morehave u ever used Samsung S6??? it's battery life lasts only 1 day and is actually worst than S5.
while Sony Xperia Z3 lasts 1.5days or 2days .

I say the 14nm processor does its j... moreI say sonys screen tech and optimizations also do a good job...
But despite s6 batterylife results, people using it complain it lasts them overall for about 18-24 h top on moderate usage...
Sonys stamina mode is the way to go, prolonges batterylife up to 30-50% with moderate usage
QHD resolution is useless FHD is enough. QHD just causes low battery life and performance and you can't spot any difference between QHD and FHD on a smartphone. This is not a 50" TV.
And about steep price, funny to say it as an disadvantage, as it was also the price of z3 when it came out...some flags like s6, leatherback g4 have higher price than that. I agree its steep as to chinese manufacturers, but these are longterm top manufacturer flags we talk about. So why is this price actually a disadvantage?
This only confirms the Snapdragon 810 being the failure of the year. I understand why Samsung ditched it for their Exynos.
As for the phone itself - it's really boring to see that same camera module from 4 generations of the Z phones. Where's optical image stabilization? Such obvious feature in a flagship camera. Sony makes camera modules for all the others and yet they can't equip their own device with proper hardware.
gg3, 08 Jun 2015I don't have z3+ and I'm not a sony fanboy...
truth hurts, yes, Sony with 20 nm SoC still h... moreThe S6 has a 1440p resolution and a much smaller battery.
I say the 14nm processor does its job well.
gg3, 08 Jun 2015S6 posted 64 hrs, when was first tested...
Wait for final results and talk then...The S6 had different modems depending on region. GSM had a korean version with a Samsung Shannon 333 modem in the preview. At release, the S6 in the US and EU got a qualcomm modem.
The z3+ uses a qualcomm modem in every region, so I doubt the results will change in the final version.
ICE, 08 Jun 2015I don't know what Sony is doing. They make decent sensors for their pocket and SLR cameras and... moreCompared the shots from g4 with z3+ preview shots thoroughly....in some photo areas g4 sucks with loss of detail and dynamic range, in some z3+ with loss of detail and dynamic range....overall equal superb quality photos.
Dont rant without substance...
Would be nice of them to do night shots in final review
How on Earth, as a 'proud' Sony developer/engineer/project manager, do you look at photo samples of these 20MP sensors, and say "I'm very happy with the output, let's stick this in our flagship phones", if not all of them? It boggles the mind... I give the lens a thumb up for not showing any purple fringing around high contrast lines, other than that...wake up Sony.
