the camera sensor in Moto X is the same as in M5. its among the best camera sensors at least if not the best of all.
I like good bang for the buck phones and Motorola seems to be quite good at them. Even if on paper it seems better - the battery is barely better than many phones with 1000mah smaller batteries, the bulk is serious there too and design choices are questionable. It still seems like a very good choice for the low price.
You can get a snapdragon 801 phone for less then the price of the x play. Moto x 2014 is cheaper now and has more powerful hardware. One plus obviously have their original one plus one for less also. Research before you buy the x play as there is better phones out there.
The battery life section says
"The Snapdragon 615 isn't exactly power-sipping..."
But the ratio of battery endurance over battery size is about 50% greater for the Galaxy A8 indicating that it is the IPS display that is the one that is not power sipping.
Sorry for saying that but my money deserve a phone with quite better specs
Be careful with Snapdragon 615 phones, I would not buy this. Its slow and newer model of this chip is coming out soon. Don't be silly person to buy this device. Wait and you will not regret.
AnonD-455554, 17 Oct 2015Worth buying Moto-X-Play !Of course not don't you see?
I wouldnt buy the moto x play to be honest.chipset is abit mehhhhh. Wait awhile for newer chipset snapdragon 620 phones as already mentioned.
Snapdragon 620 is about to be released, I wouldn't bother with a snapdragon 615 phone now.... 620 will be a proper power house. Your buying old tech now with a 615 and they got heating problems unfortunately.
Iam very happy to see this review. You did a wonderful job. I really appreciate that. But some cons are i noticed
1)no panorama sample2) selfie sample is not clear the size is less 3)you dont add the downloading option for 540 fps video
Otherwise the review was out standing i really like that
This....is One of the bestest review i have read after a very long time by gsma..there recent reviews were being so pathetic in my personal opinion....bt this one is superb with a surprize and nice cameo of xperia z5 ...& i m sold with moto x play..😊
Good review article.
I would like for GSMA to provide a panorama sample, add it into the article, if you don't mind.
However I feel Motorola takes the simplicity of the camera app a little bit too far. I want more choices of resolution, e.g 13MP and 8MP, since some times I record paper text or announcements and they do not need 21MP worth of detail that takes a lot of space. I hope a future update would take care of this. Video department too.
That said, good review and good phone.
Gsmarena ends the review with the sentence: "Now, there are rivals, but show us the one, which can beat all of the above?" You're bad, cos you make me want it :-) Actually I was discouraged by the last news about Motorola's commitment to update and therefore waiting for Nexus 5x review. But Nexus has never been good in battery life. So Moto X Play wins!
