As per the videos (for some time unavailable anymore) from Kapion LAB, both the 950XL and 950 have liquid cooling. There were 2 videos, one for XL, one for standard 950, both showing in detail the hardware put back together, including details for the heat pipes. The authenticity of the videos was not in question, so the question remains if at one point after the videos were taken MS decided to go another way with the 950 removing the liquid cooling system from the hardware. However, there are 2 problems: 1) Although both advertised with liquid cooling at launch and later on confirmed, no correction has been made by Microsoft on its part for the 950. 2) The videos showed the devices in the exact form they are in today and thus it seems they were done sufficiently close to their market date/launch date that it would have been a pain for the 950 to be redesigned from this point of view. 3) put 1 and 2 together from above and also think that in all the markets the 950 was actually put up on sale faster than the 950xl. This would also support 2).
Suggest the post author to either get an official confirmation from MS on this point or, if not, wait for proof of 950 internals to re-edit the article.
Hi everyone! Am not working for Microsoft but please let me tell you what to do regarding this phone. You should really consider it. Please be fair. Even if you felt in love with Android or iOs you really have to start considering the Windows 10 platform. All the problems like poor battery life and ... will be easily solve in few days. The apps problem is not as big as you may think it is. 700,000 apps! Do you think it is very less? And soon Microsoft will show you how they did to solve the apps problem because you'll get all the apps you need cause they are working very hard to quickly make consumer happy. All Am asking you is to please be focus on the PC experience and universal apps because in less than 4 months, lot of apps (The best apps ever) with be available on windows store and you'll spend lot of money to buy a windows phone. Please avoid this mistake and buy a Microsoft Lumia as soon as you can
Guys, you all must be knowing very well that no device delivers its full potential from the very start. It needs some time to settle & show its actual worth. So, don't judge this phone to be bad just because its initial bad battery result. It's truely easy to fix with software updates. So, please be patient, Microsoft won't let L950 down.
Wow.. Gsmarena posted full review 2-3 days earlier due to bad battery life. It should have beaten mighty 1520. Bad luck. I will take a look at its bigger brother now. Microsoft might fix the issue. Still it cannot bring dramatic improvement in battery life. If the battery lie test results were more than my Lumia 730 I would have considered buying it.
Otherwise audio quality is another department where it has failed.
Hope 950xl will beat this in everything. But bigger display. Oh nooooo...
I think i have seen one of the few unbiased review of any lumia since long timr or may b tge first time.
This phine really deserve positive response and GSMARENA has really gave it to the phone. Thia phone is very much crucial for Microsoft and it will live upto the expectations.
dev019, 03 Dec 2015A good phone, with lack of apps.
Can't Microsoft do something about it?
I mean, there's ... moreSeriously man u dnt know hw app development works...
Microsoft is working their a$$ off to close the app gaps between other platforms and windows thats y the Project Islandwood and Astoria is here. Development of apps will be easy.
Nw its upto 3rd party app developers to implement it and create and update apps for windows platform.
Here is my question why did you have to pick lumia 950??? Why didn't you for 950 XL instead???
I should have my Lumia 950 in hand tonight. I cannot wait. The review reinforces my expectation that it is a great phone, albeit with limited apps. Since I generally use fewer than 20 apps and the main ones that I do use are already on it I expect that I will be very happy with it.
I also expect that will further OS tuning, the performance and battery life will improve significantly.
If MS really want to blow it's competitors out of the water, they should combine 1020 with 925, then named it Lumia 1945.
Great.I need this smartphone.I will buy.great features but ms should put metal on this flagship just like the design of lumia 925.
ICE, 03 Dec 2015I'm not surprised.................at all.Oh well...
Btw. Dont get me wrong, I wish windows phones best of luck, they re not doing well, and I always support underdogs
its just...this phone is not inspiring, despite excellent camera
It wont help it grow its userbase

Its very easy to check out all the main players Windows, Android and IOS and see what apps are available. Calling one worse than another based on your own app requirements is just wrong. Windows, Android and IOS all do the basics well.
Not sure about the 950, but my 950XL comes with a 3A charger
dev019, 03 Dec 2015A good phone, with lack of apps. Can't Microsoft do something about it? I mean, there's ... moreIts called a 'cease and desist letter' which prevents Microsoft and other app developers from making and publishing apps to the Windows Store without approval of the app service owner. Many examples: Google preventing Microsoft Youtube app in 2013 and off course Snapchats owners doing the same.
The 950/950XL are far from what I was hoping for. I want a 6" phone with physical buttons a la 1520. At least SD 810 with 4GB RAM and 32GB expanable storage. A camera that's at least 1/1.7" with fast focus.
What Microsoft delivered is a good phone at high-end price and not the WOW phone at good price I wanted. This is not enough to make Windows phone a viable alternative to iPhone & Androids in my opinion.
AnonD-459976, 03 Dec 2015dont hold your breath , The XL uses a more power hungry chip ... The Problem is in their AM... moreLook at S6 , a lot better performance , a lot better battery life with smaller battery
I am still on the hunt for a windows phone. :D
Kyle K., 03 Dec 2015No liquid cooling for the Lumia 950, the review is now updated. Thank you for the input! KyleYou would think they would have new that, since they were reviewing the unit.
