over all good looks are awsme but heating issue and battery getting drain very soon
No FM radio :( otherwise is should be grate device
why there drop FM radio
Just got this phone 2 weeks ago. A great phone all around and unbeatable value for money. I ordered it from China and expected to have to install Google Play Services and to have to hide Chinese apps, but much to my surprise - it came with Google ready to go and no Chinese apps. With moderate use I only need to charge it every 2 1/2 days. Very light, nice to hold at 129 grams. Fast, thanks to SD 820, charges quickly. No complaints about anything important. The only minor niggle is that the text at the top of the display showing the time and battery percentage is so small that I can barely read it. Like most Chinese phones, it comes with LTE Band 7 (2600) which means LTE coverage in Canada on 2 major carriers: Rogers/Fido and Bell. Highly recommended!
Please read my comment on mi5 hands on experience . MI5 really disappointed b'coz biggest issue i have faced in this device i.e heating issue and battery getting drain very soon .
For normal use its getting heat up to 40.2 degrees cant hold device in hand and while charging its become iron box it will go up to 45.0 degrees which is too much. 2nd issue is battery getting drain too fast always need to keep in mind about battery :( .
Please buyers dont go for this device i am feeling like i brought a iron box which worth of 25K shit man :( i dont want other people also disappointed like me plz plz dont buy this shit mobile(Iron Box)
I got a 64gb black and this phone really fast in benchmark but the miui os is really bad
The os feels a bit laggy and not smooth tough they got superhero power of sd820 behind it
Xiaomi should learn from samsung, sony to make a better os, now i just wait the cm13 after developed and no bug, i'll just flash it to my mi5
Mi has dissapointed this time because in most countries only the inferior 3gb ram version is availiable and there are no signs for the arrival of a 4gb ram variant in those countries. Xiaomi should at least provide the 4 gb ram version in countries where their phone sales are going out really good. BAD BUISNESS STRATEGY!!!!!!!!
SG, 27 Apr 2016Hi,
I received the phone on 11-Apr-2016 and I faced 2 major problems:
1. Mi Protect acti... moreActually it's more an software issue tbh ... a lot of other device mi 4 /c/ mi note / pro etc have
an awful battery drain too must be fix in the coming build ... hope so
it is true:
Mi5 is the first dual sim which works with 3G/4G on both slots simultaneously.
when in slot 1 you chose LTE/4G voice and data, the second slot let you to work in 3G voice.
I really don't understand why has written in the reviews about this phone that doesn't work 2 sims 3G live:
The Xiaomi Mi 5 supports 7 LTE bands, and you can tap to an LTE network on either SIM, but once you do, the second one will be limited to GSM connectivity only."
it is not true.
I am sorry I can't attach here the photos of my phone screen which shows the 1st slot with H+ and second slot with 3G connectivity, as well as the 1st slot with 3G and second slot with H+ connectivity (when I take the photos I haven't 4G in that area to see what happen).
the data network switcher in phone settings works very quickly.
the camera is very good even if evening.
very bright screen, true colors.
Anonymous, 27 Apr 2016Despite its specifications, its real performance is slow compared to today flagships. How do you mean slow, milliseconds slow or minutes slow, bro get a life, who's chasing you?
Despite its specifications, its real performance is slow compared to today flagships.
I received the phone on 11-Apr-2016 and I faced 2 major problems:
1. Mi Protect activation:
Multiple requests but no resolution yet
I received an email that said that I must contact on numbers given in the email if i dont receive an MI Protect activation sms. I didn't receive the sms, so, i called up on one of the customer care numbers given in the email. They said that it'll automatically activate in a 2-3 days. I went out of country for 1.5 -2 weeks, and I contacted them again on 27th Apr 16 but the activation still wasn't done. I emailed on the email id suggested with details and i still do NOT have a reply.
2. Phone Battery issue:
New mi5 phone battery doesn't last even a day
I started to use the phone fully after I came back; I put in the sim in the new mi5 phone for the first time on 25th Apr 16, and found that the battery doesnt even last for a full day with my normal use (like I did with my mi4i or nexus 5).
I contacted customer care and they suggested that the phone would be repaired. Why should a brand new phone be repaired. It must be replaced if it is found faulty but Mi customer care person insisted that wouldnt happen and just stopped replying.
This is frustrating. A person doesnt buy a new phone to find it is faulty and then see it getting repaired within 3 days of putting in the sim.
I really feel stuck here. I really used to advocate MI over apple but right now i dont think i was right atall.
Would someone please help here?
As I see Mi 5 is the most amazing phone of 2016,
As all knows Mi 5 black colour looks awesome and it's not available in the Indian market...
Xiaomi mi5. 5.15 inch display... and htc desire 820 5.5 inch display.. So which one is big...???????
Very sad very bad. A week I've been using mi5. Heats up. No frequently dialed list. No customer after sales reply. Figer sensor very bad. Most of the time ask for password. My opinion NOT WORTH IT.
I will not suggest anybody to buy Mi5. Biggest issue is heating problem. I called the call center and they told that if the battery heating will cross 50 degree then we will understand it is hardware issue. You can't even hold the phone at 44- 45 degree. Total waste of money. I had earlier used Samsung Note 2 since last 3.5 years and now repenting that why I bought this phone instead of Note 5 / 4. or even S6/7.
Very good phone but should have sd card slot as well as the water proofing feature...
confused, 30 Mar 2016xperia z5 or xiaomi mi5? i really like the z5's design and they cost almost the same here,... moreMi5's software is fantastic, except for MIUI, that I'd prefer not to have. The camera app is the best I've seen, and I've used a few. The two next best IMHO are the iphone 6s and my previous Sony - the Z3. The Z5's camera app would have to be a huge improvement on the Z3's to beat the Mi5's. Having said that, Sony are really good with android (not too heavy on customisations) and would have double the battery life.
I have had the Mi5 for about a week. I love everything about it, except the battery life.
Unfortunately, I am unable to get a full day of use out of it unless it is very light usage. By comparison, my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact lasts nearly 2 days. Its REALLY hard to believe its 3,000 maH.
I have some crashes of wallpaper and MIUI seems a little heavy. The phone is still lightning fast though, but I feel it would benefit from a more Vanilla ROM. This would also help the battery life which is let down even more by the fact that MIUI doesn't seem to have a way to select 2G or 3G instead of auto 4G. In my poor reception area trying to hold on to 4G doesn't do the battery life any favours.
Conclusion great phone if you have frequent access to a charger.
