The SD650 is built on a 28nm process, which means that ... moreYes that is a concern on the 650, even more so on the 652 (as it features 4 A72 cores). However ARM have stated quite considerable improvements on the A72 over the A57 in terms of power efficiency.
Whether this increased efficiency is enough to offset the larger manufacturing process or the limitations of a smaller battery is yet to be seen. We are also not sure how the other components of the 650 compare in this regard (whether the Adreno 5xx is better across the board than the 4xx generation for instance).
Sony do have a pretty good reputation when it comes to battery/power management, even if their design language suffers from not having the most efficient thermal properties.
Will have to wait and see how the X performes in these areas. Your right though a little thicker wouldn't have been the end of the world.

The problem here is actually Qualcomm. The SD650 is built on a 28nm process, which means that battery life will suffer compared to the latest 14nm or 16nm processors. Couple this with a measly 2600 mAh battery and you will have a phone that does not belong in the 2016 lineup. Why this thinness craze ? Just build it 2mm thicker and put a proper battery in there...

Let me explain, I do think that in my unbiased opinion the dynamic range is better on the shots from the S7. Hauser on the other hand, in his biased opinion will say it is better on the Xperia.
The difference between us is that bias, I have none, and he has nothing but. To Hauser an Xperia will always be better, no question, no matter what, end of story.

And... moreIt's not that the sensor can't resolve detail, but that the focal depth is too low. You can see in the 1:1 crop the focus is on the leaves in the front. Thus the trunk in the background is blurry. Honestly, with the move to wider aperture lens, camera software needs a way for user to set the focal depth.

I guess it's an interesting niche, mid rangers with good cameras. The ginormous bezels though.. but still, it's a fine strategy to drop out of the flagship race for. I wish Sony still had a flagship line mostly for the Compact series. The Z3 Compact was one of the most important and memorable Android phones, even if personally I prefer bigger screens I recommended that one to so many people and they love theirs, with there being no good successor.
