The GPU is about the resolution rendered to be displayed onscreen and not the resolution capability for recording video.

If you're serious about video recording are you really going to do it with a phone? Most the audio available with the video also isn't up to parsons why does someone really need it? I'd be interested in hearing the reasons.
I believe the inability to record 4K video is not really a dealbreaker. First of all, what are you going to record that you absolutely need 4K? If you plan on making Youtube videos, you're far better off with professional or semi-professional video cameras. Second, if you do make a Youtube video, you need to upload it, of course. 4K videos are HUGE. And in most of the world, data is still expensive, so if you plan to upload more than a couple of videos, you need a lot of gigabytes in your monthly plan, or access to a solid wired connection via Wi-Fi (or physical connection via USB to a computer) to be able to upload them. If you want to film, say, family occasions... I don't see why FHD wouldn't be enough.
I am sorry, everyone, but I'd rather take a good quality Full HD video than an awful 4K.
robogo, 16 Apr 2016Yes, in the long run 2K is best and mostly seen in the abysmal battery life of the phone. Not really! It hardly matters check out the P9's & S7's battery endurance levels they are with the same battery power of 3000mah..
.In long run every phones battery degrades, No one needs to be a genius to understand that.
AnonD-100398, 16 Apr 2016QHD screen matters at 5.5" and above you can see the diffrence!Yes, in the long run 2K is best and mostly seen in the abysmal battery life of the phone.

Definitely among the better flagships this year only let down by a high initial price, Fm radio omission and lack of 4k. Otherwise no complaints, althpugh battery life should have been better and they should have made the base model 64 GB to really pitch it against the mighty competition. These are small things (for a company as big as Huawei) but would have turned it to one of its kind beast.
The photo took by P9 are excellent, it is sharp without overshapening, the contrast is high, color is accurate, noise level are low ;)
The only one missing is OIS.. making it not "perfect"
If the price is lower a bit, sure grab one for my collection.
The supernight mode is very good, it is like P8, like it, and also the light painting (star track mode :D

AnonD-494168, 16 Apr 2016@Garena; Can u give up your con ''non removable battery'' ? u are embarrassing yourself with... moreYeah. I can second that. Also I always say, that higher than FHD resolution on a phone is an overkill and just a marketing trick, that you currently won't benefit from. But people like to play the numbers game. They don't care, because higher is better, right? Ehhh...

No matter what you throw at it right now, it won't make it stutter. And runs much cooler than Snapdragon with Adreno. I rest my case. Or are you one of those people who just care about the number shown in the test, not the actual performance?
Well...there you go. That's Leica tech for you. No wonder the camera performance bested every other devices, they know what they're doing. They are on the market for what? 167 years? Whaaaat? Yes sir! Long before anybody even heard about Samsung, Sony, LG, not to mention Apple. Great partnership Huawei. Also...please stop whining about the phones performance and read the review, not just the conclusion. It states, that no matter what you throw at it right now, it won't make it stutter. And it runs much cooler, than everyone's favourite Snapdragon with Adreno on board. I rest my case there. All the other aspects are decent. Sure, video recording could be better (can't be bothered with the lack of 4K), but I get that wasn't their focus. And me personally, I don't really record many videos with my phone, so it's not a deal braker. I only wish, that the sound and battery department would perform a little bit better, but since I'm waiting for Plus version anyway, this will be rectified in the nearest future. Overall...I'm happy for Huawei. They really showed that Chinese companies can (and often do) offer an appealing alternative to the "usual flagships". Seems like they went from "cheap crap" to "cheaper quality" (unless we mention HTC =P) Great review GSMA. Now waiting for Plus.
Can u give up your con ''non removable battery'' ? u are embarrassing yourself with it..
I hope you mentioned it when reviewed iphones if NOT you are hypocrite site !!!
And get facts right there IS dual sim version
when you reviewing samsung phones or iphones all sudden u don't need dual sim ?!??
another hypocrisy ?
And if you think that ''4k video on smartphones is native you are naive.. It isn't .. there is bit behind the scene lie about ''smartphone 4k recording'' no it isn't real..

The performance is really a huge let down.Compair it with others its light years behind in performance..Its like the Nokia Lumia 1020 which has a very good camera but is very slow cause of the underpowered chipset.
At first I thought that the P9 and P9 Plus were overpriced. Well, the camera is co-developed with Leica and Leica ain't cheap so I'll just let it go for the moment. But when I read the review I think both P9 worth every penny.
Mind you I'm not a gamer or a heavy user so the CPU and the GPU don't mind me at all. And my comment is for me and myself only and doesn't represent anyone else so don't go telling me the CPU performance is nowhere near the flagships on the market rn.
