If there is such an issue, then as with the Z5 series, it's likely other reviewers will call attention to it in the coming weeks. Certainly Damir has been very fair in his reviews of Sony products in the past, and I can't see him trying to call attention to this out of some bias against Sony.
So as my previous comments have stated, it's also possible there may be some issues here, there certainly is a history of such in the Xperia series. The design language Sony uses, nice looking as it is (and believe me I do like it) doesn't seems to lend itself to optimal management of thermal properties.
Tann Hauser, 04 Jun 2016Oh come on lex,
not my fault, the guy showed the grey box and clearly stated " no OIS again"... moreWell actually yes (as somebody who likes to point out other users failure to pay attention to details) I would say it is indeed your fault.
That said, I won't disagree with you on the steadyshot side of things, It does indeed work very well, not perfect (there is the ongoing issue regarding tremors even when the device is still) but is likely the best implementation of EIS on the market, ahead of even Apples already impressive system on the iPhone.

Maybe he should do a hard reset and do the test again... ;-)
Lex79, 04 Jun 2016Oh man, come on Tann, now your just embarrassing yourself.
OIS is always working on the S7 ... moreOh come on lex,
not my fault, the guy showed the grey box and clearly stated " no OIS again" in description....
So it does use OIS for 4k?
Great.
Still, Steadyshot is great in Sonys 4k too

Tann Hauser, 04 Jun 2016Yup I watched it again, my bad , he mentions X not overheating up after over 1hr extensive gam... moreYes the heat output from each device was similar at the conclusion of the test, though damir tested the S7 before the X.
This could then be an indication that the S7 hardware and software is more capable of managing thermal properties that that of the Xperia X.
That is a possibility at least.
ICE, 03 Jun 2016Another one of those "make me believe what I want to believe videos".Why ? because U don't like what is shown in there. For your info, in his video of S7 vs X, S7 was proved to be a little better than X, so those videos are not completely biased.
AnonD-331984, 04 Jun 2016hahahahahha it hurts you so badly. Every other sony flagships record 4K far more than any sams... moreWell that as a rant was a bit of an incoherent mess.
"No other phone had ever recorded 4K up to sony. "
....not really sure what you mean to imply by this, but if it was that Sony were first to market with 4K recording capable smartphone, then I'm afraid you are mistaken, the Acer Liquid S2 took that title. And I'm also pretty sure the Note 3 predates any Sony Xperia with 4K capability (though I will stand to be corrected on that).
Avan Dr, 03 Jun 2016Yes, check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNweHTAVUg4 what was I supposed to check out from the dubious video ?

He also mentions temperatures of both phones are same after test...
So, obviously its not an overheat issue he has, but sth else circumstantial to his device
The proof that it is not an overheat issue is this guy testing his X the same way for over 40 min:

AnonD-331984, 04 Jun 2016hahahahahha it hurts you so badly. Every other sony flagships record 4K far more than any sams... moreYeah... No. The s7 records 4k 10 minutes at a time. But you can record more than that consecutively for up to an hour.
The xperia x phones don't have 4k recording and can't even record 3 minutes of 1080p of a white table without screwing around and eventually shutting off. Of course, I said this to begin with, so I'm wondering why you bothered replying and not addressing this. Troll much?

OIS is always working on the S7 (as it is on most devices that employ it) the 'video stabilisation' option that you see greyed out in the video is combined OIS and EIS. You loose the EIS aspect in 4K mode that's all.
SaltandPepper, 04 Jun 2016You're right, i checked anandtech, display color gamut on Xperia X is far from accurate.

You being a sammy fanboy, I therefore compare to sammy devices...
Oh yup, I stand corrected, its 10 min limit now for S7, no OIS stabilization though, a shame....

Reaper, 04 Jun 2016For everyone who's mentioning heating issue!! If I remember the max video recording I saw o... moreI have recorded about one hour clip of 4K-video on my Nexus 6 and it didn't overheat - did get a bit warm of course, but I could use the phone normally right after I stopped recording. This means: 40 mins of 1080p-video recording without heat issues is not any kind of an achievement.
AnonD-442781, 04 Jun 2016Of course nobody noticed the fingerprint scanner, it doesn't have one! Not the US one anyway ... morehahahahahha it hurts you so badly. Every other sony flagships record 4K far more than any samsung even with your exynos which you claim has no heating issues. I know your kind of people, very sorrowful and restless kind. No other phone had ever recorded 4K up to sony. If that is not optimization then what is? How long can GS6/GS7 record 4K, 6mins? wow that's great... here you are complaining it has no 4K when you can only record it on your phone 4 just 6mins and buy 2000 dollars tv to watch it. LOL
SaltandPepper, 04 Jun 2016You're right, i checked anandtech, display color gamut on Xperia X is far from accurate.
Ev... moreTrue enough, they will likely come up with some 'they are paid to say that by Samsung' nonsense as usual.
My local carphonewarehouse actually now has the X in stock and on display, I have to say the design is gorgeous (the camera now protrudes ever so slightly, but that's no big deal), and personally the screen looked very nice indeed to my eyes.
One worrying fact though is that as with all phones on display in store, it was running the demo software (a series and of videos meant to show of the features of the phone) and felt very warm to the touch, much more so than other devices on display (Z5 series devices excepted, they also are constantly warm)
It seems there may still be some thermal issues related to this device, and that is sad...
AnonD-442781, 04 Jun 2016Of course nobody noticed the fingerprint scanner, it doesn't have one! Not the US one anyway
... moreAll that talk about the X screen, but results are amazing when actually compared:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3WEsd912Hq4
About storage, funny you say unbranded and then go to say Toshiba. Actually what anandtech said it needed more testing on different settings....
But online actual speed comparissons of X to flagships in app loading, like xeetechcares on YT, seem to contradict anandtech preliminary scores, as it performs in IO read speed better than most flagships, IO write speed is quite high for X though..
On the video recording again, you are just wrong, its circumstantial speculation only.

Why is it suddenly my device against yours? I was simply talking about Sony's phones. It doesn't matter whether you have one or not you dirty fanboy.
For the last time he didn't use the phone before the test. Samsung only let's you record 10 minutes at a time, but you can do more than one round consecutively, up to an hour. But this is for 4k. Xperia x doesn't do 4k, it can't even do 1080p
Tann Hauser, 04 Jun 2016Of course not fella, that was a recording session after straining the SoC with over an hour of... moreLol. Get your ears checked or stop trying to defend Sony so much. He said that even when gaming it didn't heat up much but only with the Sony's poor camera it shut down. He didn't say he did the test after gaming.
He was saying that the phone probably cooled down already since it shut down the camera. Unlike when he checked the s7 temperature when it was still going. That's what he said.
AnonD-442781, 04 Jun 2016Of course nobody noticed the fingerprint scanner, it doesn't have one! Not the US one anyway

Even Samsung made Super LCD 5 on HTC 10 is far better than Xperia X. But as usual Sony fans will say Xperia display is accurate, natural , and bla bla bla.
