Best idea for a Moto Mod would be a back that was a battery back that allowed for solar charging instead of wireless charging.

The phone will work exactly as you describe. It's not possible to both charge and discharge a battery at the same time, so having the external charging the internal and the phone using the internal is nonsense. Having one battery charge another instead of using it directly is also inefficient, another reason why it's a silly notion.

It's possible that the external battery both charges the internal battery and powers the device at the same time, but that doesn't make much sense since it would give less overall battery life, but you never know.

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2016Looks like Motorola went backwards this time... carrier exclusive, this isn't the 2007 iphone ... moreWider release in September of both models, at least in Europe and I suspect in the US too. The only thing I am not crazy about is that bottom chin but guess one could get used to it.....

AnonD-442781, 17 Jul 2016No it just charges the battery. I figured that they CAN and SHOULD have made the external battery to be used, and the internal one would be there if the power is low, or suddenly detached. That way, the internal one can't be used often, thereby prolonging the smartphone's usage life.

But I think that's not the point they wanted. Instead, they want you to change often. Those three pin connectors of the rumored/leaked "iPhone Pro" is probably the same function to extend battery/accessories. OMG. They just make it look cool, use it and feel cool, and only shy away from making some meaningful customer win.

I cared for the removable battery system because you can just change to an extended battery and it will 100% of the indicated power will keep the device juiced up longer. All these powerpact will only transfer 70% of the indicated capacity of the powerbank.

I've said it before. The only reason they didn't put the 3.5mm jack on these phone is because of the slim waist line and also the hardware required for those moto mods to work.

Exclusive to Verizon?! Crap. I love the whole concept of magnetically attaching modules, especially BIGGER batteries.

Having extra 2000mah+ is NOT enough. I don't know how the external battery will work exactly - will it be charging, or directly powering the device? It'd be great if the external one powers the device, and overrides the internal one to reduce battery degradation. If that's the case, then I want it!

I'm betting Samsung will pick this idea up to be implemented. If Lenovo and Motorola aren't going to cash in with international selling of this concept, we'll see Samsung doing it.

If some one comes up with a combo mod - battery + 3.5mm jack + e-ink display, its will be really amazing! with 5.5" display, we have quite good real estate available to cram all this in 4-5 mm thick mod, and keep avid ebook readers happy :)
Also add-in spygen like case for better protection!

AnonD-472910, 16 Jul 2016not true you can charge the phone essentially with a motto mod while listening to musicThat may well be implemented with a hub as well. The person I was replying to was talking about connecting to a computer, headphones and charging, which would require a hub of some sort.
