Whats the purpose of "adjusting your app to Nougat" if it's going to be used maybe by 0.5% of the market even until this year's end.

The updates to Android themselves are smaller and less meaningful. They add features that less and less people will truly like, while improving less and less under the hood.
Right now having a Nexus device means nothing, as you get the updates faster, but the experience is so incomplete, that you end up (like me on my Nexus 7) with a folder called "basics" just for apps that will give you what most OEMs add to Android out of the box, that you won't believe why Google didn't with yet another update. Another point is, my Nexus tolerates updates way less than my Samsung and Sony phones. The OEM devices sure lose performance with the new updates and never run as well as on the original OS version they came up with (optimizations and product lifecycle and end of life management, eh) but the Nexus is a whole another story - mine is almost unusable on Marshmallow. I went back to custom kitkat and guess what, super smooth. Sad face.

I hate automatic updates with a passion, so it's terrible news that Google tries to push them.

PLAYER SLAYER, 06 Sep 2016You don't need to install it. What Seemless Updates do, is they just download the update, wait... moreThat's not how I read it at all. The way it was worded, as if OS downloads and installs in background thus not needing for an individual to select an update(whether to download it or not and later to select to install it), and "benefit" of it being is that you didn't have to wait for it to install like a typical update (about 2-5 minutes of my Note 4). But I guess we'll see.

So...are faster updates going to work on Note 7? I think it wasnt hard to mention which of those new devices would have everything working on and which will not!!!

"download and installation will take place in the background" = the user will not know why the Internet suddenly is so slow!
Every good phonecall blocker must have the ability to choose a "whitelist" to decide who is allowed to call without having to block every single, millions..., unwanted phone call in a "blacklist"!
Most features of Nougat I already have on my rooted phone!

I hope the customized Androuid 7 systems (that different phone manufacturers use for their own devices, like LG, Samsung) will NOT have this automatic (seamless) system update bullshít.

American might say it's incremental step, but stuff like multi-lingual mode is a big deal for the other part of the world. Gaming aside (for me), battery consumption, encryption, backup, quick task-switcher.. GJ!

Android must incorporate more gesture inputs, like the ones in BlackBerry / Ubuntu Touch, and should freshen up overall UI with some novel colour schemes / animations. And I know, this might use a significant amount of resources, but it would really make a difference in the feel!

ToonToon, 06 Sep 2016but tell me, why android os needs octa core processors? ios needs only duel core.Because Android is not iOS and iOS is not android? lets see your iphone have the same features and skin and multi-tasking and widgets as any android phone, on dual core and lets see how well it will go.
