I didn't expect there to be so much difference between them.

Xperia X having a better camera than the flagship XZ is also ludicrous. XZ only improves on camera performance. XZ also has an improved camera software compared to older Xperias. Camera API 2, manual shutter control, etc.

Use the XZ camera in manual mode.

AnonD-229954, 18 Oct 2016i dare .. double dare to include lumia 1020 .. i bet it will still come on top .I doubt if it can topple current generation smartphones. After all it was to compete with the Galaxy Note3, Xperia Z1, LG G2, etc.
This is 2016, not 2013.
It also lacks features like laser autofocus, image stabilization, etc.

AnonD-229954, 18 Oct 2016i dare .. double dare to include lumia 1020 .. i bet it will still come on top .There is a test of 930/1020 and G4.
You could see how good G4 is.

Lowering ISO value can decrease level of noise in Xperia phones, Google about it.
Also, why would Sony put a better camera in a midrange phone like X, and put a worse camera for their flagship? That's like telling the Nissan Maxima is faster than Nissan GTR.
XZ has an improved camera software and more sensors to take better pictures than previous Xperias, end of discussion.
Also, im seeing a lot more positive reviews of the XZ's camera than the X's.

Also should be shot in same resolution otherwise its no longer blind cam shootout, as you see Big difference right away. Well, there would be difference in colors and sharpness, but how its now, its too obvious.

XtremE16, 18 Oct 2016Guys forget this post ..n wait for Dxomark announcement who is the best camera? IPhone 7 alre... moreDxOMark is a fraud, scam site.

GSMArena's comparisons are much more correct, useful and reliable than DxOMark will ever be. GSMArena's camera review represents the real world performance more closely.

The best and most accurate comparison would be if the photos from all devices were the same sized 1:1 crops, but the way the scene on the photos had the same scale, same size. So the photos taken with a higher resolution camera should be scaled down to the size of the photos taken with the lower resolution camera, or the other way around.

Then, the best way compare the photos is to embed the images in the article to make it the easiest to compare them.

Some methods to achieve it:
a) mouse over / mouse out switches between the photos
b) create a .GIF animation that loops through the photos
c) use an "interactive comparator"

This site is the best example of what I'm talking about. Photos are cropped properly and their javascript based "interactive comparator" is very useful:
http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/20669_Camera_head_to_head_Lumia_9301.php

This way you could notice the difference in even the finest details between the photos.

The way I compare camera samples/photos from GSMArena reviews (and other reviews) in Firefox is:
1. open the image at full size --> right click --> middle click on "View image (it opens the image in new tab);
2. choose an area on the image;
3. adjusts the size/zoom of the image with CTRL+mouse wheel till the size/zoom of chosen area on both images matches (you can achieve it by downscaling the larger resolution image or upscaling the lower resolution one);
4. scroll one of the images till the center of the chosen area matches
5. rapidly switch between the images by pressing CTRL+PGUP and CTRL+PGDN keyboard combination

View angle on xperia x is more wider and taller than others and you cut the areas on still images just like others and even lesser than others ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! juuuuuust tell me why you did that ?! you just want to ruin xperia brand!! you should spot view angle !! when i see this compraison i just see a very noisy zoomed pictures for xperia xz !! and sony is fool ! if they use the normal resolution like 12 and 13 or 16 mp sensor on their flagships there is no more criticism on their camera phones !! just look at xperia xa ultra samples friends ! you don't see any noise like this because view angle is tight like other phones and is not wide like xperia x xz z5 ... wish goods for gsmarena and readers allover the world !

I feel like there is a flaw in the blind test. Since this will end up becoming a battle of pixel size.
