thats why we have eyes.We do need a reference picture, if we are trying to find out which is more color accurate.
How can you talk about color accuracy without a reference picture?
Tech sites like AC provide a reference picture taken with a DSLR, when they do blind tests. Only GSMA provides no reference pictures

I'm an apple fan, if I had to pick a one from android side, I'd definitely choose XZ... moreI agree that sony is best android for allround photo, it isnt best in any particular area but it has very few failed photos under various/difficult conditions where esp my samsung phones has failed me far too often. Anyway, iphones are the only really all around phones and camphones.

Overprocessed, completely wrong white balance, overly and inconsistent saturation, and now im talking about their $5000+ fullframers. Canon is very far ahead of sony in higher end camera sales now, sony had their time in the spotlight but its going down now, and accelerating.

Does more megapixels mean worse camera? Of course not.
Also, there is nothing wrong with having a F2.0 aperture. Even the new Pixel phones have the same aperture.
As you can see from the pic the issue XZ is facing is slight noise, which can be noticed when you zoom in a lot. If you want lower noise you should use manual mode and reduce ISO. These shootouts were conducted using auto modes on all phones.

Mkdc, 20 Oct 2016I rest my case that g5/v20 has the best camera in a smartphone. In video yes. For still the ip7 won in total score and for me, a nikon dslr user, i chose cameras out of realism and no doubt the ip7 has the more natural colors in the daylight sample, the 3 others look like a cheap mirrorless aps-c camera, nice saturation for kiddie birthdays but useless for realism. Anyway, i have iphone SE and its better than galasy s7 both in daylight and dim light, though samsung win on night flash photography.

If I'm nip picking for these small little differences I would rather go and buy a dedicated camera with an APSC sensor. Why bother with a smartphone camera if ultimate image quality is a concern?

I always wondered the same thing for audio quality. They don't want to mess their walkman sales so they don't integrate a good DAC in their phones.
