Pixel XL's HDR+ is actually an automated photoshop. In other words: cheating. But it's acceptable if it gives good photos.
However, you don't have manual controls with Pixel XL and HDR+. If you install 3rd party camera app to get manual controls, you won't have the advantages of HDR+ mode. Plus, Pixel XL is lacking of OIS and affected by flaregate. And the aperture is relatively (f/1.8 is the standard today) dim, it's only f/2.0.

The second camera in iPhone 7 Plus is a joke. It has dimmer aperture and no OIS. So it has worse quality. You can't even control when to use it.

As an long term Android fanboy I must admit that the better phone is the iPhone 7+. The Pixel is an insult to every Android fan and nobody should buy it so we can have a better product from Holy Google next year. Shame.

Have you tried using newer iOS versions on 2+ year old apple hardware? It's painfully slow. Just because you have access to the update...doesn't mean apple won't make the update run so slow they force you to buy new hardware.

OperationBlitz , 31 Oct 2016I cant believe that so called mobile phone users are choosing phones solely because it takes b... moreAh well some use their phones as their MAIN CAMERA. That's why even a tiny difference of 10% better photo quality matters, for them. I never did care about mobile cameras, but honestly after looking at S7, Pixel, iPhone samples, OnePlus 3's samples don't look too promising.

Well, any comparison shouldn't be limited within the criteria GSMARENA just showed. The overall experience also matters. Some might love pixel and some might iPhone. iPhone has better yearly update support, better speed feats opening games and apps, stereo front facing speaker which is deal breaker to some. On the other hand, pixel let people customize their phone the way they like. So when considering to pick a phone those things should also be considered. That's my opinion though.

The last iPhone I had was a 3g. Since then I've used a Sony Xperia, Nexus 5, Idol 3, Asus Zenfone 2 laser, Nexus 5x, and S7. I'm an Android fan. But you missed one huge difference between the products:
Apple's products have historically received 4 years of updates after release. Google promises 2 years of updates for the pixel.
This was satisfactory for a Nexus device which cost half what an iPhone cost. But the pixel is roughly equal to the iPhone in cost, and 2 years of updates is insufficient.

I cant believe that so called mobile phone users are choosing phones solely because it takes better pictures??? Wtf!

I choose my phone based on power, performance and Productivity. Not because I can take pretty pictures or because I can play candy crap on it.

Either the market is changing to stupidity or there's a lot of twits out there?

If people are choosing solely based on how good a phone can take pictures why not buy the Nokia 808 sureshot? Or even more sensibly get a cheap phone and spend the rest on a decent DSLR camera!

I like both but I am going for Pixel. This review purposely misses some great things. I think the design is world-class, clean, professional and character. Google will indeed be a beautiful swan in the making. A major innovative company that many of us use everyday on computers, directions etc and free. Every fantastic thing has a start and we'll done.

It gets my vote.
HTC and Google, marriage made in heaven.

A friend just got his Pixel and on Skype I was blown away how great it was compared to boardroom media devices. It is absolutely bloody amazing.

Abysmal screen to body ratio on both, with the Pixel less excusable. Even if both weren't massively overpriced, I wouldn't be interested.

so the number 4th or 5th ranked android phone beats the iphone fair and square.
GSMArena didn't even compare the thousands of great features baked into android which just makes using it better than iOS.

battery life should be given to pixel since it supports fast charging.
