"MIUI 8 is a clean and light shell on top of Android Marshmallow"
seriously light shell ? it's very heavy, i use mi 5 before, and miui aggresively clearing background apps, i open chrome with 5 tabs, and then switch to another app, and return again to chrome, it reloads
and that very iOS like multitasking interface is very slow if you compare it to stock android
Pabliell, 03 Dec 2016You messed up Xiaomi, you messed up big time! Mi 5s got good speaker and audio quality, Mi Mix... moreSo another phone that this company made you stops you from buying Mi Mix?
That is like saying that I willike never buy a car from Tesla because I didn't like one of their models.
AnonD-616486, 03 Dec 2016Will this work in the US with T-Mobile with all 4G access? No, did not has B12, so will lost coverage in some spot.
This device has FDD-LTE: B1，B2，B3，B4，B5，B7，B9.
T-mobile's FDD-LTE: B2,B4,B12.
If Xiaomi will bring Mi Mix next year to US, may be they will add B12 (not vitamin ok...)
You messed up Xiaomi, you messed up big time! Mi 5s got good speaker and audio quality, Mi Mix got it also. So why the hell you didn't do it for the Mi 5s Plus? That's the only thing stopping me from buying it!

Nice battery life and even better build. I just don't like the design with one bezel at the bottom. Front facing cam is also placed awkwardly. And the main cam itself is underwhelming. Overall a more than decent phone in my book. Just not worth the price.
AnonD-345931, 02 Dec 2016Technically, your OS itself didn't get updated. Yours is still in Kitkat, right? It's a completely different phone than how I bought it. I've never seen a phone more updated than this one (stock vs now). I'm running miui 8 and I have almost complete feature parity to all other xiaomi phones.
The android version that my rom is based is irrelevant since most of the code in Xiaomi phones comes from Xiaomi. MIUI is a mostly in house OS. It's like saying that Nougat is technically a not very up to date version of Android since it does not run the latest version of Linux kernel (far from it in fact).
Then again it doesn't matter since most of the code comes from Google (in Nugat's case), similarly as long as I run MIUI 8 I get most if not all the benefits of running a modern 2016 OS. It's also tailored to my device's hardware, so it doesn't slow down than if Xiaomi had their MIUI versions following android versions strictly.
So yes my phone is still being supported. How about yours? (Those that are older than 2 years old)
This device is certainly godlike in its own category :p. But the "earpiece" quality is super underwhelming. Check Jerryrigeverything and youll see what i mean...
AnonD-606096, 02 Dec 20164k screen is the most useless thing i can think off Actually 4K resolution is far from resolution needed to render 3D image that you can perceive as close to reality. If phones are about sharing and connecting, not giving it maximum depth is failure in innovation.
AnonD-606096, 02 Dec 20164k screen is the most useless thing i can think off If we're talking about just phones, then yes. But on desktop, more space is often needed. I have 3440x1440 and it's not enough in some situations.
