The only thing i dont like with xiaomi is that they have no glass protection :( this phone should have it since its cost alot.
AnonD-613862, 02 Dec 2016If you remove the WOW factor from this phone, then it's pretty ordinary. I would add these to ... moreYeah right, so rather than ceramic which scratches on an 8 in Moh's scales, you prefer to get something that scratches at a level 6/7 like gorilla glass or hardened glass and it would be just as shatterable (because you drop your phone everyday, but scratching items everywhere around you are much rarer, ohhh). On the other hand, aluminium or glossy aluminium may not crack or bend until serious force is applied, but scratches at a level 4/5 or 3 if your talking about the Jet Black Iphone 7. So, you want a Titanium phone? Vertu and Feld & Volk are your only options, but be ready to ditch over 5000$, for your obscene complaint.
This thing is still impractically big and there is no point to have such a screen size when you only display 1080p on it. A lot of people buying this are going to feel very disappointed. The phone has the worst of both worlds in terms of being prone to dropping and having such fragile bezels that the results are catastrophic.

Too bad about the camera. If they only put an awesome camera (took it from V20 or S7), they could've priced it $1300 I wouldn't care, I would have this device no matter the cost.
Personally, I hate Chinese phones for their low quality construction and low support in Os updates. But this phone is awesome, Xiaomi did something memorable, Sharp did edge less phoned like this, but Mi Mix is also a high-end phone. I really like the screen and concept, this should be the future. But the fragile ceramic construction and low-par cameras stop me from saying the word "flagship". But nevertheless It's a great phone and the other companies should learn what is innovation from Xiaomi, edge-less display is innovation, not "dual-camera","autofocus selfie" or "curved screen".
A phone could have 1TB internal storage and still cons: no micro sd cart slot. Dafuuq is wrong with people.
AnonD-613862, 02 Dec 2016If you remove the WOW factor from this phone, then it's pretty ordinary. I would add these to ... moreAny phone over 140x70mm is too big to handle one handed by most people. Most phones are handled two handed these days. Only iPhone and probably galaxy S avoid this dubious honor.
According to professional scratch test the glass is equally scratch prone as a gorilla glass 4.
...you still don't get it. It's not about the wow factor. It's about functionality. It's about fitting the biggest possible screen (I.E. productivity) in something that can still fit in many pockets (it's iPhone plus sized).
It's shutter prone, I agree. That is one thing that should be fixed in bezeless phones, instead Xiaomi made it all worse by choosing something as brittle as ceramic. A bad choice overall; *that* part is/was "fashion over function", not the screen size.
How exactly do you handle your devices? I've read almost every review since October 2015(I think), and plenty of them have had issues with "scratches" while JerryRigEverything's scratch tests always reveal them to be up to par with every other flagship out there.
If you remove the WOW factor from this phone, then it's pretty ordinary. I would add these to the list of shortcomings:
- Too big to handle with one hand
- Ceramic is shatter-prone
- No Gorilla Glass 5
- Piezoelectric earpiece sounds thin/distant
I would add these to the nitpicker's list:
- No Android 7.1.1 (Nougat)
- No UFS 2.1
- No USB 3.1
- No aptX
- No IR blaster
- No wireless charging (Qi)
- No Super AMOLED
- Ceramic back is slippery
- Very heavy (over 200 g)
To be fair, these shortcomings are the norm nowadays, not the exception:
- No removeable battery
- No memory card slot
- No FM radio
- No stereo speakers
Anonymous, 02 Dec 2016too heavy, next pls. It's a phablet, what do you expect? -_-
this phone... its lit!
Thanks for the review guys, I always appreciate them. The camera is much worse than I realised (sob).
Just a couple of things:
Glass Protection: JerryRigEverything on YouTube has bend, drop & scratch tested it and the front glass is a normal MoH of 6 the same as any flagship, while every other surface is an incredible 8.
Proximity Sensor: You might want to reword the proximity sensor from being “below” the screen to “behind” to save confusion.
I would have loved to have seen more of the full screen UI as like many if I can get my hands on one I would have the soft keys set to autohide and just use the Quick Ball, which is smarter, to make use of the full screen.
Wow so imagine smart phone

Hmmmmm, 02 Dec 2016Lack of screen protection is a negative? That's a little too much nic-picking. Last time I che... moreIt means "no Gorilla glass" (or anything similar) which is certainly a negative, because most phones have it.
"Unfortunately, Xiaomi yet once again didn't mention any specific glass protection for the screen. Our review unit acquired a few scratches on top of its display in the first three days even though we were extra careful in handling it."
I have been using this phone since the first release in China on the 4th Nov. Almost a full month of using without any screen protector and I can't even find a single scratch on the screen. There is a video on youtube that test the durability of this phone and it shows that the Mix screen durability is on par or better then the Note7 and other high end phones.
