AnonD-510275, 25 Jan 2017I agree with you.thank you! :)
Finally, a worthy succesor to the P1. As GSMA said, the P2 is the device that should bear the "Turbo" moniker. Or would there be a SD650 version with significantly more battery ? How significant can they pump anymore into this though, who knows.
Camera results are surprisingly good. I would still buy it even if it HAS NO CAMERA but that would be weird, xD lol.
I remembered the Hands-On article said the phone does not support Wifi AC, but the review seems to negate that. Phew ?
Really though i had little to no complaints about this except...
- name. P2 sounds uncharacteristic. No "XL" or "Plus / +" or "Turbo".
- Plastic antenna strips looks vulnerable to if the phone dropped. Remember SONY PSP L & R buttons ? yeah. Also Nintendo GBA Advance & SP.
- some important details are not specified (in the review) such as VoLTE that confirmed by Italian guy in the comments, Gorilla Glass 3 display protection that confirmed by another commenter recently.
Further great points i had to note:
- GSMA confimed the P2 has multicolor LED Notif, that i had been fooled by a review video in Youtube at the time of its launch in IFA Berlin that the guy in video said it only support White LED Notif.
- Manufactured by Motorola Mobility, and interesting twist.
- Deep level of customization on Themes and Notification tray.
- I actually liked the physical switch for the Battery Saver, i just wished that switch had more function.
- Good results in sound clarity and loudness. Also one commenter in Malaysia said the device rarely, if ever, drops to 3G from 4G / LTE.
This is the phone that going to replace my XPERIA SP (Dual Core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 1GB Ram, 8MP + VGA, 2300 MAh, 8GB + up to 32GB) that i still use to this day. I'm very happy.
Waiting for P2 official launch by Lenovo Mobile in Indonesia.
Aloof, 24 Jan 2017If this were Moto branded with stock UI, and 100$ more expensive, I would buy it in a heartbeat.Did you mean "even if this phone costs 100$ more i would buy it, it's just that good" ?
According to the review, this skin Lenovo come up with are pretty AOSP-clean, influenced by Motorola Mobility.
Anonymous, 24 Jan 2017no volte dont buy It does support VoLTE. Read previous comments
"You may also notice the Lenovo logo, and the fine print, which says the P2 was manufactured by Motorola Mobility, which is an interesting twist to this story. We've always imagined that Lenovo is the owner of Motorola and it's more like Moto phones are made by Lenovo. and not the other way around."
That's something that caught my attention. If checked for price to features ratio, this is hands down the best mid range phone with retail stores availability.
Lead2XL, 24 Jan 2017Not for me: "Body measuring 153 x 76 x 8.3 mm and weighing in at 177g". Too tall, wide and hea... moreNo one can make a good compact phone, period! Have you seen any good 4.3, 4.5 or 4.7 inch mobile other than Sony's compact and Alcatel's idol lately? I know I haven't seen any decent mobile at a reasonable price under 5 inches in years.
I bought this mobile a week back. It does give good battery life, yet for 5100mAhI expected more than 1.5 - 2 days of normal usage.
I do face one problem. The bluetooth connected to my LG tone HBS 770, streams audio playback flawlessly, but voice calls via mobile network (and WhatsApp) is choppy both ways, while Wi-Fi is on. The problem disappears when WiFi is turned off.
If this is a software issue, it was not fixed with the 17 Jan 2017 OTA update.
May be got to return this set and claim a replacement while I have the chance.
Lead2XL, 24 Jan 2017Not for me: "Body measuring 153 x 76 x 8.3 mm and weighing in at 177g". Too tall, wide and hea... moreThere are really compact and elegant phones out there but your own example s7 don't fit in budget category. Most importantly, this phone is made to b a battery champ with 5100 mah battery. And it is only 8.3mm thick so it is really stupid to ask for a compact phone with this size of battery and still not being awkwardly thick. . And if you saying that you don't want a battery that big, this phone is simply not for u. try redmi 3 if you are lucky enough to have it available in ur Country.
Not for me: "Body measuring 153 x 76 x 8.3 mm and weighing in at 177g". Too tall, wide and heavy for a 5.5 inch phone. I wouldn't want any 5.5 inch phone that weighed over 160 grams or wider than 75 mm. Not that I can't handle 177 grams. It's just that sleek, streamlined and compact is associated in my mind with elegance. This phone, by comparison, is a bulky brick. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the best example of such elegance at only 157 grams and 72.6 mm wide. Also it's only 150.9 mm tall vs the Lenovo at 153. Perhaps no one can make a compact budget phone, too much of a challenge??
Good Lord... GSM Arena guys you all hv geared up in 2017 and so many reviews already.
Btw, I m personally never gonna get a Lenovo phone... I hv in a deep mess after changing to Lenovo from HUAWEI.
I regret my decision but on the other hand I hv realised that Huawei is the best smartphone manufacturer in the world. They are unbelievably good.
AnonD-25, 24 Jan 2017Unfortunately, we don't have a review unit so no further tests are possible.
@GSM... moreBummer... I thought you had one since you did hands-on review/preview? And you reviewed Le Max 2 last year as well.
Your review of Le Pro 3 could/would have changed the ego of many flagship fanboys out there. ^_^
I need battery but 5.5 is too big for me. I was happy with lenovo vibe p1's battery too. I consider going for s7 2nd hand because of smaller screen. do you think its 3000 mah would last 1 day? also does p2 have better glass protection comapred to vibe p1 whose screen broke when it fell out of my pocket.. thank you
AnonD-25, 24 Jan 2017The Honor 6x review is coming by the end of next week. -Chavdar @GSMArena teamExcellent! I've been waiting for that review ever since you guys posted the hands-on for that phone. Thanks!
If this were Moto branded with stock UI, and 100$ more expensive, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Anonymous, 24 Jan 2017Superb phone. Why GSM arena never consider the Asus Zenfone 3? Packs the same chip set...And a... moreTheir bloatwares' suck...
But i interested to read the ZenFone 3 zoom review once it comes out
How well it does against P2's battery life, better camera setup and not to mention better update support (not the fastest update in the market, but they treated their phone better than lenovo did), and its design is better imo
