Looking at the photo comparison tool, the XZs wins against the s7 and XZ in good light.
S7 still wins in low light, XZs is much better than XZ.
Much less grain than the XZ in both conditions.
Bit more sharpening and brightening in low light and I'd say its a clear overall winner.
Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2017LOL your S8 fantasy real price is 975$... Stop talking about carrier agreements as you pay ... moreLOL do you live in the US? In my country the Galaxy S8 price is same $750. Seriously most of Sony fans are snobs. Do you know why Sony didn't success in the US? because they don't have a good cooperation with the American providers.
When more and more oems are reducing the bezels, it is rare to see those who insist in maintaining the big bezels...maybe that is another unique selling point...
RaghavaZ, 08 Apr 2017960fps thing is just a gimmick right now. As mentioned in this review "4K video looks great, 1... moreIt takes a hit or miss, that's the same thing said when fp scanner went out on smartphones. Now almost everyone can't live without it for how far the technology has come from, and this is no different. It needs to be polished first before becoming successful. But this feature is pathbreaking because it's the proof of future when almost all phones will be able to do the same.
Bezels are there for better grip and screen protection. Your screen has a higher potential of breaking when dropped sideways as there is no barrier to weaken the impact from the outside body travelling to the screen panel
FHD screen is still relevant for flagships cause you don't really need an overkill display on a small screen. Yes the XZ Premium is also overkill, but it gives you the ability to change the screen resolution to your needs
Stereo speakers will always be better than mono single down facing speakers. GSMArena's audio test is nonsense as it's only about loudness and not talking the quality at all. Ask all audiophile people and I bet a $100, all of them will say that Sony flagship phones are excellent audio device, even if not the best out today, but no one will ever say that Samsung high ends are good
I feel so bad that a year old chipset is already old. It's just like yesterday, the SD820 is the most powerful processor then tomorrow, it is now considered a terrible SoC. SD820 is still very capable, so why change it? If we can, what will we use to change it? SD821?
It's just the exact same chip, only slightly overclocked for more heat.
It's implemented there because it's an innovation. I bet you also said the same thing when fingerprint reader was pathetically implemented on smartphones, and now you will hardly live without tt, will you?

Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2017For sammy fan boys VR works only on sammy displays yes. Daydream was by Google. What made you think I was sammy fan?
Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2017Googled VR requires at least 4K, and you can forget about refresh rates be it ips or oled.... ... moreIs there any portable device capable of 4k VR? If not then qhd is way to go. I have used gear VR ,daydream VR and none was nauseating. It's pretty good for use till around half an hour of course you can't expect VR of level of Oculus or vive for that price
NokiaBeast, 08 Apr 2017Really? Thanks, glad to know. Still makes me wonder on why Daydream only works for AMOLED screensFor sammy fan boys VR works only on sammy displays yes.
Anonymous, 08 Apr 2017Didn't they test Sony sometimes back?Yup, original Z, back in 2011 was last one... thats 6 years ago.
What kind of a serious test site tests only samsungs and iphones?!
And the year 2000 webcoding there... oh my.
Its a reference joke.

And Googled VR is really bad experience on 2K amoled I tried out, like really bad.
Had nausea 5 min in.
Googled VR is terrible, Dedicated set VR for mobile, with its own screens is the way to go.
NokiaBeast, 08 Apr 2017Really? Thanks, glad to know. Still makes me wonder on why Daydream only works for AMOLED screensBecause of refresh rates. AMOLED can switch off Pixels faster than typical LCD and Google has maintained that as requirement

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2017Yet display mate rates them best.... If you guys gonna cite dxo then you need to accept displa... moreWe accept DxOMark because it's the standard of best camera reference. DisplayMate is such a biased reference point because they never test any other phones than Samsung and Apple. If they test the Xperia flagship phones and come up with truthful statements with no sort of cheating, then I might believe it. I don't really believe GSMArena's testing machines for the display. Color accuracy is a standpoint for every eyes, one can find sAMOLEDs more accurate, and some may find IPS screens to be accurate

Real quality of low light is indeed superb, as seen on tech buzz yt review of automode XZs vs S8.
So dont fall into that discussion trap here, its always like that.
I know what my cam on X Perf can do in lowlight, and its not the 3200 ISO handheld hardshutter crp posted as always in Xperia revs here.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2017Buy a 700$ device that can't even be used in VR and has no fingerprint scanner to boot in US. ... moreWhat? Who said this phone cannot be used for VR? I thought this is a flagship with enough hardware to run on VR flawlessly - my budget phone can do it even with the lack of some things for VR. Fingerprint Scanner disabling is caused by US's patent system that disallows Sony to enable it or they'll not be able to sell it. But hey, at least Sony cares for US people and try to send their products to them, and unfortunately, Sony cannot do anything to fix the problem caused by their country, until their system will allow Sony to do so
NokiaBeast, 08 Apr 2017These pathetic haters are raging against Sony, as if Samsung really offered anything new that ... more960fps thing is just a gimmick right now. As mentioned in this review "4K video looks great, 1080p likewise. The 960fps slow-mo HD videos hold a lot of potential but capturing the moment takes practice and is a hit-and-miss when you only have 1/16 of a sec to work with - less than a split second of the real-life actions gets slowed down." So are you exactly boasting off a few seconds slow-mo video as a pathbreaking feature? Apart from this gimmicky camera nothing is new than last years XZ. Same old big bezels, same old FHD screen, same old stereo speakers(rated average in loudness by GSMA) same old processor and yeah slow-mo video feature which won't allow you to capture not more than a fraction of a second. When you are not allowing your customers to use your star feature to full extant then it's no point having that feature.
