Yes at a 200% crop you see noise at pixel level but there are more pixels in a frame so you have to crop much further in to see the noise (which is what GSMs software automatically does). Crop identically to the competition and you'll see 2 things: the noise disappears and the detail is higher. The colours are also the most accurate and the general composition is far more natural.
These are things that professional photographers actually WANT.

I honest... moreThis comment confuses me - 2 years ago nobody had tried a 4k screen, let along 4K plus HDR. 2 Years ago Sony was still using the 23mp sensor with 3 layers, now it's got a superior 19mp with built in RAM (a first on a smartphone). They've also installed industry leading battery monitoring and management software in their latest phones. 2 years ago they were using 3 "axis" video stabilisation, not they're using 5 "axis" stabilisation - which even the most ardent Sony haters here must admit results in the best video stabilisation on any mobile phone.
Sony haven't exactly been napping.

Awful camera samples. Worst samples I've seen in a while. And that's just covering the camera. Considering everything quite possibly one of the worst phone available.

Interesting that you never post this link.

And the XZ Premium kills the S8
But I am 100% sure you won't click any of them, because you're blind of seeking the truth.

Then let's talk about low light. As a Sony fan, I won't deny it - XZ Premium's low light capability still has a lot to be desired, but let me throw back the same observation to you, the S8 can't provide a much much better image either.
See this? http://imgur.com/gallery/7Uffp
And going back to daylight, don't make me laugh of saying a 12mp 1/2.5" sensor would provide more resolution than a 19mp 1/2.3" sensor.
Don't fool yourself, because Samsung tries so hard to oversharpen everything to compensate for the lack of detail. Sure the XZ Premium won't match high end full frame sensor digital cameras, but one thing for sure is that it's the best daylight smartphone camera shooter today, hands down.
Ask a professional photographer of which will they choose between the XZ Premium and S8/S8+ for daylight shooting, and I'll bet $1000 - he/she will prefer the XZ Premium because of natural detail rendering vs. Samsung's horrible detail enhancing algorithm that gives off the ugly halos on objects.
And you may ask me why I'm only using the S8/S8+ as a comparison reference, but that's for every people's purpose as the S8/S8+ literally has the best camera in the world where the XZs/XZ Premium doesn't exist.
Mind you, this new camera hardware just needs more practice, but once nailed by Sony, will be totally unmatched. Every new Sony IMX sensor only needs refinements before achieving the full capacity, just like how every phones often get better and better with newer updates.

Anonymous, 15 May 2017It's not a lie to say that Sony hardly upgrades her phones. It's demonstratably true. I honest... moreAs a Sony fan, we have reasons to stay. We don't look on the most innovation, we just buy Sony cause we trust on their products. And I don't find any better options to choose too. I dont like Samsung and Apple, I dont like Chinese phones and Google/Nexusphones(which I trust) is not available. I dont really like LG but when I used one, I appreciated it but not quite was pleased as Sony though. So dont be judgeful of why we still buy the company that gave up on innovation.I dont think many people would understand this but it's my honest opinion about Sony. As long as it is around, I'd continue buying their products.
AnonD-660652, 15 May 2017Once againe absolutely awful camera perfomance in the dusk and nightRight, because the S8 and every other phones can defeat high end full frame sensor digital cameras. XZ Premium isn't the best low light shooter IN AUTO, but proper Manual settings will surely blow anything else away.
S8 barely did much better than the XZ Premium tbf

5 axis stabilisation on both front and back camera,
autofocus on front camera

UI optimisations that put efficiency of eMmc5 memory and 4 gb ram on par with ufs2.1 and 6gb ram....

And yt compares.

So I keep repeating my opinion at least based on some compares, , while they keep repeating their "crap", "lousy", "no good" opinions, based on nadda.
Its a stale.
I only hope unbiased people can make their own opinion on who is actually exagerrating, us pros or them cons.
Tann Hauser, 15 May 2017Id say there are about 80% pro XZ Premium, and about 20% contra commenters here... The amount of people commenting for or against a position doesn't matter. It's the merits of individual arguments that should be judged.
In ancient Greece time land dwellers thought that the earth was flat (heck some do to this day) and they were numerous, probably the vast majority. But earth was never flat. The popularity of an argument doesn't make it true.
Even if it was to be unpopular to say that Sony does not really invest in her mobile department (thanfuly it is not) it would still be true, because by theur own admission it's not one of their primary businesses. Now if you want to support a company that doesn't give much thought to their products be my guest, many of us would be endlessly critical of weak attempts like Sony's , Samsung's and (lately) LG's.
[deleted post]It's not a lie to say that Sony hardly upgrades her phones. It's demonstratably true. I honestly wonder where this company finds her fanbase. Probably PlayStation fans and/to Ericsson fan that don't yet know that neither of the two teams has/had anything to do with the present Sony mobile department, hence the unearned adulation.
Phones should be judged on their merits. And this one doesn't have many. Just put it side by side w the two year old phone of their own (that his was meant to replace) and you struggle to see important difference.
This is not hating , this is supporting the closure of a company that gave up on innovation.
