Techradar states it uses the true 4K resolution at all times, not only while showing 4K content, GSMarena states it does not. Who is correct?
Quote from Techarena: "You won’t find a sharper screen on another smartphone, and unlike its 4K-toting predecessor you actually get the full resolution all the time. The Z5 Premium would only deliver the full 4K experience when you were watching video of the same resolution, whereas on the new Xperia XZ Premium it’s 3840 x 2160 all the way – from the home screen and browser to the app store and your social media profiles."
Tann Hauser, 05 Jun 2017Your worst nightmares are coming true... .
XZ Prem is out of stock already on uk and german ... moreBased on Hauser's info people should also be afraid of the fact that similar seems true for the HTC U11:
Not sure why stock levels should be scaring anyone in the first place mind??
Must be something to do with fanboy mentality, hmmm.........
Think about it, ironically the only people this is likely to bother would be those who were actually going to buy the XZP in the first place, i.e. Tanns fellow Sony fanboys for the most part.
I mean if you don't like Apple, then does an iPhone being out of stock really bother you???
Anonymous, 05 Jun 2017These is the reason why I'm really digging the Pixel/Pixel XL. The Pixels and the XZ are smoot... moreNever actually used a Pixel, but I'm betting there's a good reason it's received all that praise for its camera.

Anonymous, 04 Jun 2017well.. mr heatpipes, they better hire new designers from china/korea. They will fail again if... moreHi, Meow, why Sony hater love giving comment here. Design is personal desire, I also can say I hate rounded screen corner it is for older people like a vintage television display. One drop can make the user worry the internal damage. If you like that then go for it, but I will choose the durable one and won't spend my hard earn money for a toys.
Anonymous, 04 Jun 2017Sony is better because it design from inside to outside is from Japan and Scandinavia (Sweden).well.. mr heatpipes,
they better hire new designers from china/korea. They will fail again if they keep using this current design.
Anonymous, 03 Jun 2017I can use Photoshop to edit the image just like Samsung do.Yes........and????
You think that is somehow a good excuse for a terrible camera UI do you?
Maybe Sony should add that to their Xperia marketing pages, it could read as follows:
"Oh and be sure to use photoshop to ensure you actually get the results you desire, cause you very likely won't using our convoluted camera UI"

If this phone ever succeeds it will set a terrible prec... moreSo worse low light photography and larger bezels than the competition = humanity going backwards.
Intetesting how your brain works.
AnonD-635604, 29 May 2017Loses camera? Just because it is bad than S8? Why don't wait for DxoMark? Why wait for DXOMark??? Their results are disputed by many professional photographers and tech enthusiasts.
The camera hardware on the XZP may be awesome, it should be considering Sony prowess in this field.
But from what I can see, and my experience with previous Xperia devices, that camera will be horribly compromised by the awful software running it. The Xperia camera ui is hands down the worst I have used.
1. There's no burst shot cability (the predictive shot goes only so far to making up for this),
2. it's slow to responds to adjustments in exposure, there are now XZP's in my local phone shops to play with, so I can see this has not improved.
3. The auto HDR is unreliable.
4. The manual mode is a joke, no kelvin adjustment for white balance and ISO is buried in a separate menu.
5. In reality, it's not really a manual mode at all, more of a ISO priority / shutter priority mode. Try setting the shutter speed and then adjusting the ISO, you will see the shutter speed just default back to auto (the reverse is also true).
Sorry, but until Sony go right back to the drawing board with regards their camera ui software, that experience will always be hindered.
I have finally decided to give up on my XZ and sell it on, with the weather getting better where I live and having my two young children to photograph out and about, it's just been too frustrating trying to constantly fight the camera software in order to get good results.
Anonymous, 02 Jun 2017I'm not paid but I'm indeed afraid. If this phone ever succeeds it will set a terrible prec... moreread this comment carefully. this is ridiculous. are you that crazy? seriously? lol
[deleted post]Yeah! Look at the television, the antique one must be the rounded corner display which you can found on Samsung S8 and S8+.
Do you think Bezelless is latest tech? Think again, the Sharp Aquos Crystal is bezelless smartphone many ago, the Samsung just copy it.
The fingerprint button on S8 and S8+ is the most creative design because it get a dedicate lens cleaning app to come with the fingerprint button.
AnonD-669639, 31 May 2017agreed. they are afraid that this phone will doing well in sales. they are paid troll.I'm not paid but I'm indeed afraid.
If this phone ever succeeds it will set a terrible precedent of bad cameras, bad autonomy, even worse ergonomy, gimmicks (4k on a phone that is rarely 4k and even that doesn't matter because you need a microscope to see it).
So yes I'm afraid it will succeed as there is the danger that the market will be flooded with even more downright horrible products like this.
This product belongs to history under the tag "those early 21st century people were crazy". That's historical levels of mediocrity and quackness. This phone *has to* fail for the sake of all of us...
i had high expectations upon the announcement of this phone. but seeing it in store for the first time yesterday (non working demo) i really wasnt impressed, the design was fairly decent, but not as slick as the promo photos suggest...but my gripe with it was its HUGE and wide and fat, and those pesky sony top and bottom bezels are rediculous in size....if sony spend some time actually refining the front look a bit more then they may have a cracking phone, but the xzp just lacks a bit of style and refinement...of course im sure other people will feel didferently towards it
