Guys from GSMArena, I see what is happening with the performance benchmarks. I used CPU-Z and it shows that at any given time 2 CPU cores are turned off (this is probably to prevent overheating). And we know Xiaomi cheats just like OnePlus, so maybe for Geekbench 3, it uses all 8 cores, and for Geekbench 4 it uses only 6. Hence the poor(er) results. Battery charges extremely slowly which for SD435 with ability to do QuickCharge 3.0 is a disgrace. But price is unbeatable and I am looking to use this phone as a spare...

AnonD-80459, 06 Jul 2017Yes! Someone who thinks exactly like me. A toast to all these Xiaomi phones with 10000+ mah ba... moreO really??? I had moto g4 play for 2 month. That before I was using redmi 2 prime. I agree moto g4 play will get 7.1.1 update. Bt battery performance was bad. Even redmi 2p had better battery performance than moto g4 play. I am not supporting xiaomi. Even I just hate them because They heat too much. And miui has so many bugs. Now I am using honor 6x and very much satisfied with it. Bt redmi battery is amazing as they give 4100 mah.And my brother has redmi note 3 and he just lpve his battery performance

This is definitely NOT the best Redmi from Xiaomi. A bit disappointing.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2017It really has to do with your usage pattern being completely different than GSM-Arena test pat... moreLook, Im NOT saying that my usage-pattern represents the norm out there. All I'm saying is that my particular usage-pattern has remained unchanged more or less over the years (creature of habit, you know). Until now I been conditioned to expect around 5-8 hours of SoT with 10-15% left as safeguard, regardless phone/model. Now, to my surprice I get 8-10 hours of SoT, still with 10-15% left to go. That's all I'm saying. And that with 20+ apps opted out from Xiaomis somewhat overzealous battery-optimization options.

Actually, the low price is simply the icing on top of this phone. It has absolutely no competition at this price range. Better than average camera, screen and processor for the price range in a metal body, and equipped with a fast, accurate fingerprint sensor, ir blaster, fm radio, sd card, dual sim and large 4000mAh battery. At this price range, this phone has not only virtually, but absolutely no competition.

AnonD-80459, 06 Jul 2017Yes! Someone who thinks exactly like me. A toast to all these Xiaomi phones with 10000+ mah ba... moreThe G4 play with its 2800mAh will not outlast the redmi 4's endurance with 4100 mAh battery. It is just impossible unless all you do is wake the phone one hour a day ro use it. The G4 play will long be in a trash bin when its stupidly low battery capacity drops to 50% of what it used to be.

AnonD-198005, 05 Jul 2017I have owned and used both the Galaxy S7 Edge (rated 92 hours in battery-test) and Xiaomi Mi M... moreIt really has to do with your usage pattern being completely different than GSM-Arena test pattern. I highly doubt you (or most of us anyway) do 1 hour SoT for video for every 1 hour of web browser (or app usage). So unless 50% of your SoT is video, it's normal that the battery results for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will be somewhat skewed, as this phone has phenomenal battery efficiency on video playback terms.
If you visit GSM-Arena Battery life tests page, there are adjustable sliders to adjust battery mark to your preferable battery usage scenario. For example if I set Calls: 0hrs / Web: 4hrs / Video: 0hrs, the 92 / 80 (S7 Edge / Redmi 4) battery mark becomes 47 / 55 and Redmi 4, in that scenario, gets 20% in front of S7 Edge, despite being 15% behind in the typical GSMArena test scenario.
I find the GSM Arena battery test results quite accurate, although I'd like them to include Standby time, and make some sort of normalization for battery size in order to outline efficiency. But that's nitpicking really.

Only good thing about this phone is price - everything else - old 5 years 28nm process, low camera, 1.4 ghz only, old android 6 , old Miui 8 , bugs , lags, battery problem charging so slow, overheat.. etc... games run very good but display too small.

My friend has been using it for 3 months, Nougat was already updated since May 2017. So this review is out of date. 2 big issue with this phone is the no fast charging which will not help during low battery situations, another is the sync seems to goes off whenever screen is turned off, no matter what settings we changed at battery and application. Otherwise it is a solid phone and at less than RM650 in Malaysia, it is a bargain.

My mom been using this 4x for a couple of months, and it's really an awesome phone. The performance is on par for almost any aspect compared to my 2013 flagship Mi3, except the battery is better on 4x. CAF on video recording is really impressive, response time is fast and focuses are spot on.

something is not right with battery endurance of redmi 4x
Redmi 3 got 107h in the gsmarena test and 4x got only 80h

I got both phones and confirm that standby/inactive battery discharge of redmi 4x is visibly worse - although it is using newer more power-efficient chipset

I blame new android version and MIUI - they have lot of useless background activity that consumes battery.
My Redmi 3 pro battery stays almost flat when phone is inactive, with my usage (4G on, 2-3h web/mail/calendar a day, whatsapp running in the background) I charge battery every 3-4 days.
Redmi 4x with exactly the same setup and usage had to be charged every 2 days ...

possibly power consumption could be reduced by deep-tweaking of the OS or installing custom build w/o crapware or even LineageOS. not many people have time and skills for that though..
