AnonD-1385, 31 Aug 2017This is the first time I'm commenting on a review in the review forum. I have been a Nokia fan... moreI think Nokia will make more customizing experiencie in the future (improving the sotck experience interface and inluding a file manager, a system cleaner, ...) and also with fast updates.
Now Nokia is back, and it is in the first year only. Slowly. Rome was not make in a day. :-)
This is the first time I'm commenting on a review in the review forum. I have been a Nokia fan for most of my cellular life. Eight of the twelve phones I have ever owned were Nokias. I was a big fan of S40v2 (my former Nokia 6230 stands out) and Symbian S60v3 (my former E71 stands out). I always liked Nokia's skin overlay on Symbian...it was very much reminiscent of their S40 skins. Enough with my great nostalgic memories. Now to the matter at hand.
It's a pity Nokia didn't provide it's own full fledged theme/skin/overlay on top of Nougat. It would have surely felt more like Nokia of old. It certainly has the processor to keep things fast even if not as lightening fast as stock Android. Plain and simple I dislike stock Android. It looks ugly and feels less intuitive not to mention the notification panel has less features. Yes updates may be faster but updates doesn't happen every day or every week. In fact the security update happens once a month and the OS update happens once a year. Even before a security updates reaches your phone you would have spent countless hours pasting your eyes on the screen doing countless things so YES looks matter.
It certainly seems like a great flagship with the beautiful looking body, smooth looking wrapped screen along with that lovely looking Glance screen along with Carl Zeiss lens and the OZO sound feature etc. but the look of the OS just spoils it for me. Stock Android always make the phone look cheap in my view. I'm also surprised it doesn't have more gestures, even the Galaxy S3 have more gestures. Cheaper newer phones like the ZTE Axon 7 has a lot more gestures. Every stock Android I have comes across just seem to have the basic gestures like flip to mute/reject call etc. For Nokia's first flagship entry in the Android world I expected more gestures. I wanted to see the nostalgic Nokia icons again not the same icons you see on every stock Android. Nokia is still legendary, regardless.
Just gone up for pre order in the uk, £499 at Carphone warehouse, and you get a free Nokia Activité Smartwatch....I can't find much to argue about there.
Anonymous, 26 Aug 2017S6 had very bad sot. It got the score due to high stand by time. This one has much better sot.... morei had the s6 and the best SOT i had for a 2500mah battery was 5 hours and that was a mixture of 4g and wifi
AnonD-34062, 30 Aug 2017Oh yes, Nokia back in the day had some quirky designs (N-Gage) , but I think that's what made ... moreAh the N-Gage, again I personally a fan, but all credit to Nokia they weren't afraid to try. If they'd be a little more dynamic and read which way the wind was blowing a little better, they could of perhaps maintained their position in the upper echelon.
£549 eh? That's not bad considering the price of the high end segment this year (£649.99 for a G6, what were they thinking!)
Lex79, 30 Aug 2017Yeah I'm not sure where the 'embarrassment' would come from either....maybe the fact that user... moreOh yes, Nokia back in the day had some quirky designs (N-Gage) , but I think that's what made them so popular. They weren't afraid to try something different.
I believe the UK price is GBP 549.00 according to Btekt over on YouTube. Cheers!
Lex79, 30 Aug 2017You're welcome, but If you did read any accusation in my post, then you misread it.Nah I just say in case if anyone else misunderstands me
xXENDER FREAKXx, 30 Aug 2017Thx for the tip. Don't accuse me though, I am not a SAMSUNG fanboyYou're welcome, but If you did read any accusation in my post, then you misread it.
xXENDER FREAKXx, 29 Aug 2017I am not supporting SAMSUNG. I just like how efficient it is for the EXYNOS variantActually, Anandtech discovered that with the S8, it's the SD835 version that's more efficient overall than it's Exynos twin:
AnonD-34062, 29 Aug 2017Save yourself the embarrassment and don't buy Nokia 8. I'll be happily embarrassing myself eve... moreYeah I'm not sure where the 'embarrassment' would come from either....maybe the fact that users of this device will likely be running and more up-to-date and secure version of android than all but Pixel users perhaps?????
Never was a Nokia admirer back in the day. They were creative enough to be sure, but silly decisions and stubbornness lead to an all too predictable downfall. That said it's nice to see them back in the game in what ever form they are now.
Considering picking this device up myself, just waiting on UK pricing...........
AnonD-82844, 29 Aug 2017no 1080 video but captures 4K ,WTF?!It's 1080p @ 60fps et the phone doesn't do.
If you need regular frame rates (30fps), you're covered up to a maximum of 4K.
lol! Beside the usual smartphone fanboys antics and their childish bickering for a piece of metal slabs which I find highly amusing. The nokia 8 is a decent phone, Although I kinda wish it had a better low-light camera sensor. I wonder what the next rumored nokia 9 would be. Hope nokia seriously gives samsung,lg and even apple a run for it's money.
Sony Fanboy Bitches, 29 Aug 2017Are they saying it? At least it's far from miserable like on the iPhones.
Oh, and Androids ... more"Sony, for example, with the XZ Premium.
Guess what, 4K HDR screen on 5.5" size with only 3230mAh battery and gets 72h Endurance Rating.
I can only imagine how laughable would the endurance rating of the next iPhone be with the same exact hardware."
How conviniently you forgot to say:4k display which actually works on 1080p.And the iphone 7 plus with the same 5.5" diagonal and 1080p resolution beat the crap out of XZP in endurance even if it has smaller 2900mha battery.
Anyway Kudos to your trolling, not anyone can distort the fact as you do...

Carol, 29 Aug 2017You just said that this phone has small battery capacity and now you argue that their is no pr... moreWhat I mean is yes, their battery capacity is kind of small, but in the end, the battery life gotten from them can still give u more than a day of use. Don't get me wrong dude, I am not a person who comes around and troll
Anonymous, 29 Aug 2017Nokia is now an embarrassment to be seen using....Save yourself the embarrassment and don't buy Nokia 8. I'll be happily embarrassing myself everyday with my Matte Blue Nokia 8 when it arrives.
I don't know why Nokia's return has caused so much whining.
