XZ Premium 4k screen being adaptive only for apropriate media is the smartest choice ever...running games at 1080p and not 2k or 4k seriously enhances gaming performance, one just needs to look at graphic bench scores of sd835 devices with FHD and 2K...FHD screens, or FHD adapted screens like on XZ Premium, performing almost 100% better than those other 2K...
So no, performance wise it is actually stupid to run screens always in 2k or 4k, as it seriously affects performance of some aspects of smartphones, like low fps and stuttering in gaming and every day screen stutter and lag in 2d graphic rendering while using UI or browsing.

amazing battery life for 2700 mAh, nice camera , premium feeling. if the bezels had been a little bit smaller it would have been a stunner

2K=best ... morePeople watching the 4K HDR TV have a longer distance, but people watching 4K HDR in a smartphone the distance is very short so it is very closer to see the details.
2K display is just like toys level in TV standard, because it is older technology. BTW, the Sony 4K (HDR) display in smartphone can swift change between 1080 and 4K automatically when viewing different contents, it is advance technology that the competitors all behind Sony.

Photos would be bad like selfies from s8 and iphone.
The 13MP front has same size of rear cam of G6 and i7+.

Any display that has more than 350dpi is a waste of battery. OLED is great if it's TV grade OLED such as LG Premium or Sony, any other OLED looks worse than LCD. They try to trick your eyes with that insane saturation but 90% AMOLED/PMOLED on phones are third grade and are worse than mid to high grade LCD. Hues are shifting all over the place, blues are going crazy but the worst offender is the muddy white which freaking blinks all the time, it's like it's on 60Hz CRT refresh rate.

I always do that for low light and get much better results than auto max resolution like reviewers use.

The same story with amoled, sure black are good, but what about amoled white vs ips white? Again biased. ALWAYS based what popular brands do. Not everyone should follow trends
In my opinion 1080p is plenty for phones, bigger than that is waste on gaming performance and on battery life!
Still Sony gives a choice, you think bigp is good? Grab premium, you think 1080p enough, then XZ1, or want small phone, then XZ1 compact!
