Did Apple pay other companies besides DXO? ;)
It was clear that the S8 night shots are better than the iPhone 8 Plus. The daylight shots for S8 are more saturated because they were taken in better light compared to those for the iPhone, not because of the processing.

SuperSaf camera comparison - 7 Plus vs 8 Plus
7 Plus won. I'm pretty surprised by it like I was when the Note8 beat the 8 Plus in PhoneBuff's speed test. You can actually see blue in the sky. This is bad news for the iPhone X because it essentially has the same cameras as the 8 Plus.
I was really 50/50 with the X since I already sold my Pixel yesterday and my S7 edge is ready to be sold off within an hour. I like the X's size. But I'm now thinking about holding off until iOS11 gets better optimized. Since I like the #10 and #13, I probably won't get another iPhone until 2020 with the XIII. The 8 Plus is a disappointment.
"Apple is probably the least likely company to release a half-baked novelty just for the sake of it"
Yeah, 3D touch was none of this.
There is probably something wrong with the tested iphone 8 plus camera. In the photo quality comperison section, the Iphone 8 plus showes in normal light and low light conditions much lower quality in terms of details then Iphone 8. Specialy towards the edges. This is also visible if you open the samples photos, its bit blurred towards the edges in certain parts of the photo.
LG superfan, 30 Sep 2017And low light images are bad because of no ois (but great on tripod)Not the OIS..
i saw samples of XZ1 x Note8 lowlight , auto mode
Note 8 pics were ISO 600-800, XZ1 pics were 900-1300. This is the issue.
Great phones photos the ISO is 50-90.
This is why you do not really need manual in daylight shots, unless you like the effect of HDR.
In lowlight there is a huge difference between them.
Outdoor shots, flash must not be used unless you want to take photo of people. For Xmas tree, water fountains , buildings for example manual + slow SS + 50 ISO is better choice

It's 2017 and were still recording in mono audio lol. For a device platform which has always been aimed at the high end of stuff, you'd think they can manage stereo audio.
Why I don't & won't have an iPhone.
1. Poor interconnectivity - If I want to transfer an image/file from Android to Android I can easily via Bluetooth, if I want to transfer Android to iPhone, I have to email it, which isn't helpful if you haven't got a signal.
2. Expandable Memory - I want to be able to hold my stuff on a memory card, separately from the phone, if the phone gets broken they're gone, with stuff on a memory card, there's a chance that they may well survive it. No memory slot, not interested thanks.
3. Rigidity/Control - I find that Apple's grip on things too much & overpowering, whilst there are benefits to this, for me it's overwhelming and I don't like it. Android is a little bit more relaxed in this.
What I find quite interesting is our company has just dumped iPhones & Apple and is moving to Android based phones because they're easier to deal with and cheaper.
I8 android compatitor is 1+5,and its costs way less. Cant even make fast charger and include in the box, basically phone for reviewers and "not smart" people(most of the iphone fans)
It really is very heavy, with a case as heavy as the industrial Cat S60 (which doesn't need one). The X will be much lighter. So is the Android competition. A bit more real-world speed versus lugging a brick which is expensive, large, heavy and lacks features?
I have to agree that the iPhone 8 samples seem to have a lot of bad artifacts at 100%. Reminds me a bit of Oneplus 5.
Note 8, 30 Sep 2017Getting reports that iPhone 8 Plus gets 10/10 in repairability with zero effort required to po... moreNot really the same. The Note7 exploded whereas the iPhone's screen is just separating.
We'll just have to see if it is just one batch that has the manufacturing defect or a widespread problem.
Last I saw though it was only two units.
THE BEST OF THE BEST CAMERA ON WHOLE PLANET... maybe of universe... DxO Mark Powered - must have, shut up and take my money...
Apple happens, but crap like this one is really dangerous named - BEST CAMERA EVER... Its DxO Mark suicide...
Iskander, 30 Sep 2017That all depends on the video watched. Dark video's will help Oled, but video's with lots of ... moreIn a large population of anything, there will a certain number of failures, especially in something like batteries which contain corrosive or highly volatile components. This is unfortunately to be expected, especially in the lot numbers of something as popular as the iPhone.
The real questions are:
1. Did the containment vessel do its job and properly contain the failure?
2. Did the failures cause any collateral damage?
3. Statistically. is the number of failures excessive in a (say) failed units/100,000 metric.
there's something strange about this review , as if I was reading an iphone review on The Verge in past years ( they actually changed now for better after so many criticizing )
abdul, 30 Sep 2017Hey GSMarena, are you blind? Those iPhone 8 camera samples are horrible! Overprocessed & o... moreWhen they said that the iPhone 8 resolved more details than the Galaxy S8, I was not impressed. The S8 clearly has more details and better image, especially corner softness (horrible on iPhone 8, excellent on S8).
Did you see how terrible that noise reduction algorithm is on the iPhone 8? iPhone 7, 6, etc, were already BAD but this is even worse. Look at the cars, they're not even cars anymore lol, full of artifacts.
