A $1,000 10th anniversary phone that compromises battery performance. What good can a powerful chip brings if it slumps on battery efficiency?
Anonymous, 09 Nov 2017Well you're still totally blind. "Better" than what? $5 wired phones? Well maybe. But bluetoot... moreThe revolution is not having to deal with the tangle of wires.
There are many times when I would just not bother with EarPods because I didn't want to have to deal with the jangle and untangling of wires, and AirPods free you from all that.
As for longevity - my daughter goes through EarPods once ever one to two months - and these are real EarPods, not janky counterfeits found on Amazon. (I don't understand it - my last set lasted over a year.)
Yes, charging anything is a pain but you don't have to do it very often (depending on usage), and they last for hours at which time you replace them in the case which can change them up again. Essentially you get about 24 hours of use before you have to recharge the case.
My wife loves hers too, and I'm thinking of getting them for my daughter to see if they can cure her of her constant search for more EarPods.
I never liked bluetooth earphones because of the constant hassle of pair/unpairing with various devices, but AirPods with the W1 chip pair with all your devices logged into the same Apple ID across Macs and iDevices effortlessly.
They do pair with devices outside the Apple ecosystem, but there you're reduced to the standard pair/unpair process which turned me off bluetooth in the first place.
The performance section shows the Apple's prowess in Chip knowledge. it will take atleast 2 years for Qualcomm/Samsung to come up with a chip that lock horns with A10/A11 chips. By that time A13 chips could be in the reigns of 2025's..
Sad that Android cant utilize the world's top end chipsets anymore.. :(
iPhone X is a copy of LG G6, but more ugly.
AnonD-696542, 09 Nov 2017Apple will never be able to explain why they didn't include a 3d touch always on under display... moreFace ID offering passive biometric authentication is an incredible achievement which makes security pain points disappear, both for unlocking the phone and for eliminating security inspired interruptions when using the phone.

Also, having to recharge yet another device is EXTREMELY annoying/inconvenient.
And it's even worse it has limited lifespan, while wired headphones will be good even 10+ years later if you are careful with them.
And finally, bluetooth is always an option, so you've been brainwashed to think it's 3.5mm vs bluetooth. It's not. I can still use bluetooth on my phone which does have 3.5mm, so where's the evolution here? I think we all know the answer.
AnonD-80334, 09 Nov 2017What's special or better about a dongle vs. 3.5mm jack??? is it offering any better quality?? ... moreActually, the AirPods are *great* devices, offering slightly better sound quality and absolutely stellar convenience while maintaining excellent situational awareness, an important feature for a portable phone listening device.
And you're right: "There are none so blind as those who will not see."
TheProperGentleman, 09 Nov 2017I'm here to remind y'all that the battery test doesn't reflect real-world battery life. I have... moreLOL the opposite is true and you confirm it. According to GSMarena, most phones last at least 8-10 hours of browsing, which is absurd in normal browsing conditions (Not to mention they probably test in WiFi and WiFi is so 20th century...)
AnonD-696542, 09 Nov 2017Apple will never be able to explain why they didn't include a 3d touch always on under display... moreApple will never try to explain that because it will make them look weak. Vivo, on the other hand, managed to do it and for sure they don't have Apple's development power/money/fame. They will probably release it in the future and state that is the "most advanced in the industry" when in fact, if you look at the facts it is all a big BS...they lack a Steve Jobs who was the only one who knew how an iPhone should be...current managers are just "wanna be" and hide behind marketing's big words.

The ambient light sensor is ten channel on the iPhone X - it's four channel on the iPhone 8s.

I'm here to remind y'all that the battery test doesn't reflect real-world battery life. I have the Huawei P10+ which got almost the same score as the iPhone X and I comfortably hit 6+ hours of SOT. Which is enough for a full day tbh.
I think that GSMA should think of a better way to test battery life. A lot of phones score an average score, but has excellent battery life in real world usage. Even the Note8 and other Xperias has better battery life than the test shows I believe.
Old and new. Same..Nothing new..I'm still waiting..

Unless it battery starts exploding 😑😂😂😂😂
another year, another junk. bezel-less phones are mostly gorgeous like Samsung or Huawei, but this is by far the ugliest bezel-less.
