Having it for almost 6 years now, since November 1st 2018, I am still using it writing this message. Just bought it back then for the dual sim and the IP68 certification mainly. Didn't cost me much as it was bought with bundle contract and i was paying monthly installments. Cool phone, nice cameras for that period still trustworthy.

I got the short end of the stick when me and my brother got the same phone, as he hasn't had as many issues with his. Hit or miss I suppose.
I'll go over my main gripes with the A8
It frequently says there's water in the port when there isn't, very annoying. I find it happens mostly when I'm resting it on my stomach in bed.
Worse camera quality than my previous phone, the Pixel 2, despite it apparently having a better camera. Frequently blurry, duller colours, terrible in low light, etc.
Very slow at loading websites, even when I first got it and there weren't storage issues.
I thought the dual sim card would be helpful! But I guess it's not formatted for things to be properly stored in secondary storage. Picture folders will disappear after selecting to have them be stored in the secondary sim card, same with apps as well.
Lastly, the battery is dead after less than a year of standard use and is stuck in a boot loop rendering it unusable.
Overall, there's plenty of better options in terms of cost effective small phones. I personally won't be buying a samsung again..

I used it for almost 3 years without any issue and still using it. Even the later introduced A models were not water resistant. I was looking a compact size dual Sim Galaxy water resistant with non curved screen (hate curved screen) and finally found this model, it's not 100% flat screen but close enough.

This phone is literally the worst. The phone has a water issue always saying there is water in the port. And it sleeps for weeks or even months. I mean the phone being on but the screen is off. I'm phone less while owning a galaxy a8 and its really pathetic. Does anyone else have this issue?

Considering getting this one or LG Q70. The Q70 looks like a better phone in most ways, but I have small hands and wonder if the size will be an issue.

There are two version of this phone. The A8 (2018) has 2 slot (yes, two slot, not one), one is for a sim card and microSD and another one is for another sim card only.

I have this phone for a year now and the only problem I had is the front camera, I am using the normal mode of it but sometimes when im taking groufies, (group selfies) it only focuses on my face and my friends is blurred at the back im not using the portraimode
