I bought this phone in september when the price got lower and thought it was the best in its class. However there have been several issues, for example the speaker problem which has been there since day 1. Recently there was a software update which has made broken the microphone on the phone, i tried connecting my earphones with built in microphone and still people can not hear a thing. Battery life is unpredictable. Some days screen on time is about 5h with 15h usage and other days screen on time goes up to 9h with 19h usage and I am using 4g network not only wifi.

But there are a lot of quality control officers of the brand who make sure that all distributed phones are so normal. Not only Samsung but all.
So, as buyers, make sure that you buy the phone in believable place.
I'm looking to buy this phone over the honor 9 lite, i came across a very common issue reported by users with their brand new A8 cellphones, some even noticing the issue on the very first day. The issue seems to be the stuttering of an audio (basically any sound), when played through the loud speaker. I think this maybe a software issue and can be fixed with the new updates. But no one has been able to find a permanent fix for the problem.

I bought Galaxy A8 2018 in Oct 8, 2018 and already installed in Android Oreo 8.0.0 and Samsung UI 9.0... Am so happy with this as I do not need to install them by myself.
I am very happy with A8. But I am facing one major network issue. Most of the time my network is flapping like no tower. During that time, i wont be able to attend the phone call as well. Its my repeated issue on daily basis. If I am stopping 4G data, the network is coming back properly.
Galaxy A8 is a decent phone.
I'm thankful that I did not choose Nokia 7 Plus, Huawei P20 Lite (Nova 3E) or Huawei Nova 3i. Camera is not bad when it comes to the quality of the image. I can take good pictures and DXO give a score of 79 for the quality which is not bad for a Mid-range phone. Before I bought this, I have my iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 7. I can say that it can compete with these two iPhones. Build quality is also nice. My speaker is working perfectly and it's running with the latest update (Oreo 8.0.0) from UAE. I'm just worrying about the battery because I think the hours for screen time is not enough, maybe we should get 1 or 2hrs extra on batt life but overall, it's pretty well good phone.

I have had an audio problem with mine which means you get intermitten cut outs for a split second enough to spoil a film or music from youtube. Also I get plagued with software updates. Fair enough they are offered in the middle of the night; but accidently trigger one and cancelling via a reboot isn't that easy. Rebooti gng via power off/ volume down can be unresponsive and you don't have the option of removing the battery. All in all too many niggly problems.

I purchased his phone few days ago. Since then I am having a problem with messages on my whatsapp & Gmail notification. If the phone has been inactive for a period of time it shuts down all the apps. No matter what you do it doesn't work. You have wake the phone even then you don't see the emails or messages. Only when you open the app they update. I understand it is a problem with all 2018 models where Samsung has instaleed a new app power monitor. I will stay away from 2018 models until this is fixed. Samsung does not accept thet there an issue.
