Hope the flagships don't have a fingerprint on the back to cater to the American market. Nobody there will buy it. They have iPhone and Samsung mania

171g is so heavy AND it's not fully metal body! my Nexus 5x is 136g wow how did they do it in 2015?! Gorilla Glass is unspecified version?! Sony still does not understand how to make a midrange phone! so many other phones are cheaper AND have metal body. XA2 is overpriced no wonder why Sony is struggling with phone making

That XA2 is a very complete package, the only thing that I find strange is the sound quality with an external amplifier.
But great start for 2018!

For ex, Xperia X that is even going to get Oreo soon, for 250 now, or even X Performance with Oreo, for 300-350 now, are better choices...
For same prices, older flagships are indeed better choices than new midrangers.

Not to mention its resolution and hw shutter key. 8mp in low light should also be better. This is like Z6 phone.

Great stuff for 300-350 bucks.
Oreo feats out of the box and great battery life.
Cameras performance quite decent.
Although I dont care for selfies, that 120 degree mode is just great feat for selfie lovers.
I guess 4k video and sound quality shortcommings are due to a midrange SoC just not strong enough as a flag SoC in crunching so much data...
But the 1080p at 60 fps is best mode for video ovreall anyhow so...
Yup, for 300 to 350, great stuff.

I was considering this phone for my wife, but seeing a just ok battery (for Sony phone and battery size / SOC), bad analogue output and just ok-ish camera, I will most likely pick something else, something better.

an overall nice phone. it looks nice with that borderless edges and the main camera is better than the z5 and xa1 (check comparison tool ) , long battery life. this should be a best seller....of course with proper marketing , which sony is not good at...:(
