(Source: https://www.androidauthority.com/costs-make-samsung-galaxy-s8-766126/). Note 8 could cost way more. Trust me, Samsung never cut corners like Apple and they are doing it great so people are buying it! as simple as that bro

CptPower, 22 Feb 2018All you need to know raw manufacturers price is less than 200 selling price 1000. How i know... moreS8's manufacturing cost is 307USD per device. Based on this Note8's manufacturing cost would be between 325-350 USD, and not at 200 USD u proclaim. Not every Samsung employee does know everything. Samsung isn't as small a company as your Lenovo, OnePlus, Oppo. Even OnePlus sells their devices for more than the average manufacturing price per device they manufacture, why? To feed their employees and maintenance and R&D. If it costs Samsung 200USD to make a Note8(which has got costliest screen panel to make, one of the best cameras and processor, spen and its wacom digitiser, and that aluminum and glass sandwich body) then how much a OP5T/5/Mi5/6/7(which doesnt have components as costly as Note8's) cost their respective manufacturers, per piece? 50-100USD? If that is the case then why OP5T is selling at near 600USD(If OnePlus selling OP5T at six times its manufacturing costs is okay for you, then it should also be okay for you in Samsung's case also, selling at 5xNote8's production costs)? Are they selling for the same price? It's a challenge for you, find a exact clone of Note8 in your favorite price range 200-300USD, that performs just like a Note8 in every possible manner(including spen, whether u need it or not doesn't matter). Everything you use in your life is priced way more than their production costs, even the Coke you are so fond of. Learn some Economics and about Technology, you will get to know why all flagships are at insane prices. You are so desperate to buy a Note8, but its price tag is scaring you. I think this is the sole reason for all your comments saying all flagships are worthless. Sorry if this offended you.

Actually Note8 is far more worthy than iPhone X. Fluidity is a minor concern, considering how much more it can do compared to other smartphones in its price range. As the issue with fingerprint sensor location will be dealt in their 2018 flagships, lets hope Samsung does the same with their software niggles.

Clearly this isn't a company that understands the value of simplicity in software - when you aren't confronted with options you may not care about, you're given two of each kind of app just because Samsung can't admit that the Android ecosystem is Google's, not its own.

The objective Guy, 22 Feb 2018Totally agreed. The first things I did when I got my Note 8 were disable Google Play Music and... moreGsm arena, pls know some duplicates are A Must because stock google apps don't support fonts of some region, some minor leagues languages(don't assume all people use english and stock apps support all languages). Those duplicate apps support those languages for these regions which is a must for these peoples.

vrvly, 22 Feb 2018Thats true, but you can find sharper shooters(stills/video) even in 12mp category. Also 12 and... moreFalse. Even if you zoomed max, it is still the sharpest the human eye can see. U can even see evey single hair. 12 mp camera is the best mobile camera for both good light and low light conditions. That's why all best mobile cameras use 12mp(samsung, iphone, htc, pixel). Adding more pixels to camera is just a marketing strategy used by companies(vivo, sony) although they know there is no benefit of adding more pixels than 12 mp unless they use 1 inch sensors. I know because I have both S8+ and XZ premium and S8+ produce noticeably better pictures in both good light and low light, front or back camera.

The more options, the better. This phone ships worldwide, so you can't expect a person on different part of the world do the same usage style as u. The feature u don't use at all can be used by another person everyday. Eg. I use palm swipe gesture to screen capture. It is a better way to screen capture than stock android's power button capture which sometimes lock the device. It can also prolong the power button's life.
P.S You can turn of most of the features if u want.

CptPower, 22 Feb 2018All you need to know raw manufacturers price is less than 200 selling price 1000. How i know... moreEven if the raw manufacturers price is 200$, any sane people would not sell their products 200$ without profit. You're saying your cousin works for Samsung, is he the executive officer in Samsung? I hardly think so. Advertisements cost lots of money ya know. You have to consider the maintenance of the machines in factories, Samsung factories workers' salaries etc. All of that costs money ya know. You're expecting Samsung to pay all of that using what, dead leaves? Don't be a hypocrite. No one forces you to buy Note8. Go find yourself a 200$ smartphone that can give you everything the Note8 has with the same level of quality.

If smart stay(which is debuted with S4) is used by only 1% of users, why sony copied that feature as smart backlight control?

Ive been using note8 since early november. Came from xperia z3 user for 3yrs, the presence of samsung lags is shocking for me (the z3 still buttery smooth). But for day to day use, i dont find any negatives for this device (apart from the occasional ui lags. Maybe because i use third party launcher -nova-). I can reach the fingerprint scanner easily, and the iris scanner works perfectly without the needs to position the phone awkwardly. And the iris scanner unlocks the phone pretty fast. I rarely can read the notification on the lockscreen XD. The only time the iris scanner fails consistently is when i want to unlock my phone just after i wake up in the morning, because my eyes swelling LOL.

Hello, you are not alone. No issue with the scanner. It is just a question of habit, I think.

Too bad the long term review did not include the DeX Station with the Note 8. Imagine if a fellow office worker stopped using their desktop computer, replacing it with the dock instead, using the Galaxy Note8 as the desktop computer. Does the S pen also work with a Dex dock? I would like to know long term pros and cons of using this phone as desktop computer replacement, since the dock shows a different desktop GUI on a monitor or 2.
