MIUI is tolerable once you install Nova Launcher and an Oreo theme in the MIUI theme app. Sure, you don't get Oreo, but you get great hardware, a UI that looks more stock than other OEMs, at an awesome price. As phone prices continue to increase, all of my future phones will be from Xiaomi. Plus, custom ROMs always come to the popular Redmi Notes after a few months.
"If you bought a Redmi Note 4 last year, then you can probably skip this year but if you're still holding onto a Redmi Note 3 then this would be a good time to upgrade"
Well actually it's more like other way around at least regarding performance.
Wake me up when A1 2018 gets announced.
Anonymous, 20 Feb 2018Well they don't charge 1000 USD for a phone, so there's that.. not having fast charger in sub ... morethere's that, but the most important thing is, the time-consuming battery charging should be more appreciated as the battery will not wear as fast as recent battery with ridiculously fast charger.
Remember, there is NO revolutionary change over battery technology since 10 years ago, so having big-capacity battery coupled with last year's 10w fast charger is the "sure kill" strategy.
CMIIW, doesn't QC 2.0 charging output around 18w (2A, 9v)? Because I from what I read, QC 3.0 only offers slight improvement over 2.0, and that's not about the output current as it is exactly the same 18w.
This Phone Is way better than IPhone x, If you compare both photos and video. Xiaomi will become a major manufacturer to be reckoned with!. It is very pleasing that they focus on video
I don't think the miss of the usb type c is something very important. I don't understand how the Redmi 5 Plus with 12MP camera can record video at 2160p and Redmi Note 5 Pro can 1080.
What is the quality of the 20 MP front shooter?
"What we would personally like to see is an Android One version of this phone, but we wouldn't be holding our breath for that"
I was about to say that, that would literally make it a dream come true
Sun Sand, 20 Feb 2018This is 2018 and still no "USB C", sorry not interested..!!!and NFC :(
Voxter, 20 Feb 2018Well, they not only copied the camera's hump and external design plus copied from Apple the no... moreWell they don't charge 1000 USD for a phone, so there's that.. not having fast charger in sub 250 USD phone is much more tolerable than not having in 1000 bucks phone..
Well, they not only copied the camera's hump and external design plus copied from Apple the not include the fast charger in the box. Sadly they didn't copied the camera sensors... And the micro-usb is difficult to digest and accept being in 2018.
About Oreo... well, someday you'll get MIUI 10 about who knows what Android version... and probably after Android P is just released, no sooner that Q3 I guess. But if you don't care about that details, is a good phone for it's price.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro looks awesome, especially for it's price.
Good upgrades over the Redmi Note 4 too....(6GB RAM, Snapdragon 636, 6 inch 18:9 display, More fancy and promising dual camera, 20 MP front camera with flash, face unlock). The 3.5 mm jack stays alive too.
Probably the only downgrade is the small 100 mAh reduction. Maybe USB-C, IP68 & Oreo would have been better, but I think Xiaomi have another winner on their hands.
Seem like its a cross breed among galaxy s8 iphone x and lg g6
the only flaw it has is the usb c but damn xiaomi finaly has a sucessor for the redmi note 3
what about Oreo, face unlock, 4K video recording and other major software update? any official date there? in lunching event they mentioned only about face unlock but not Oreo and any other update.
