The problem with Samsung (beside the quite high prices) is the lousy software: Samsung own bloatware and Micro$oft stuff which can’t even be deleted completely and the weird desire to access my contacts even for their Galaxy Store and otherwise refusing to work, having to login and agree to silly contracts just for downloading a new screen background. Then I am still waiting since 5 months for an update on my Duos.
Bigger companies more and more think that they need to enslave their users for more money, ignoring that we already paid for the device.
I hope that this trend will turn around again.
I wish Samsung does it. But I am worried now, as bcoz OEMs now a days do not concentrate for the betterment of the existing products. Batterylife wasnt good with the S8 and Note 8. S8 plus was somewhat acceptable. S9 duo is having unacceptable battery-life as per various reviews. I preordered the S9+ , might cancel it now.
Swsko, 10 Mar 2018Mine is much better, 6,5 hrs SOTNice one, and this is one example of showing that the one thing that affects battery life is how the person use it
People must understand what Samsung achieved in the past in smartphone camera department is due to good camera hardware set nothing else, camera sensor with medium resolution and large pixels, large aperture, OIS... they were doing no miracle, it is like safe mode, now and after they tried to go a little bit out of the safe mode "innovate" they gone down.

Do you mean this?
If Sony's imaging prowess is of low quality, I wonder why Samsung bothered enough to borrow their Motion Eye camera technology for their S9 and S9+.

Even without tripod, sometimes symbol shows up on mine too.
The Exynos chipset was excellent in standby before but now it's the problem. I really hope S9+ standby time be as good as before.
AnonD-481725, 10 Mar 2018My xperia x can go 1s shutter speed if it detect no motion and it gives me tripod symbol. You mean your Sony Xperia gives you a Tripod Symbol ? That must remind you to use a tripod for all photography on Sony phones. Due to Sonys low quality photography, especially in low light. Can you recommend a good tripod for Sony phones ?
Anonymous, 10 Mar 2018I hope they can update the software so that standby time improves and it can top the S8.Yup. Oreo is a power-friendly software. Samsung just needs some further polishing and we can have much better battery life than this.
Kiyasuriin, 10 Mar 2018You need to remember (and I have the S9). The M3 preforms nearly as twice as better than the M... moreIt only indicates that they didn't fully optimize the architechture. Twice as powerful for the cost of battery life.
But it's nice that they've chosen what's more important, which is performance, because we are now in the era where battery life in a smartphone is hardly a concern. We carry power banks everywhere and chargers charge our phones so quickly. Running out of juice is just a matter of forgetness.
But hey, 78h ain't that bad really.
Vic, 10 Mar 2018Lots of noise in low light is a family disease of Sony phones. No exceptions. Yes, but this time, the noise is joined by excellent level of details, which makes it hard not to like.
I mean, old ones were noisy and muddy with not-so-good details, but this time, we now have high level of details.
For such tiny sensors, these images are fantastic. And you have to consider that the XZ2 doesn't have any OIS, narrower aperture opening, and has smaller pixel size. Taking a picture that is noisier is expected, but more detailed one is not something to be expected with the XZ2.
I hope they can update the software so that standby time improves and it can top the S8.
Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a lot cheaper now, great alternatives for this S9, check out comments on mate 10 pro thread, all of them very happy using it especially ex-user S8 and note series. Forget the no jacks, bluetooth earpiece can found everywhere cheap with good quality now.
Off topics, theres a mentioned about Xperia XZ2 improving in low lights, check it, and damn! Thats an impressive results despite dont use OIS, the sony claim about improving bionz chipset is real!
From the camera comparison tool, it seems clearly that S8 has produced clearer and sharper results in low light conditions in comparison with S9.
I wonder if this has to do something with the people who took the shots or it is just the S8's camera better? So far all newer S versions have had better low light results than the previous versions.

This is just a rough idea of how it will perform in terms of battery life, it is different from your own usage. Maybe your own battery life is better than this, or even worse than this, I don't know, but what comes down to the fact is that the one thing that affects battery life is how u use it.
