Mitochondria, 14 Mar 2018I think his point is, for such price/flagship the phone should have OIS (hence the tripod joke... moreThat's his point. But if u aren't around here for these few hours, u wouldn't know this. He have been addressing those deal-breakers a few times in this review's opinion. If u want to complain, sure u can, just complain one time like what others do, but it seems he is very immature to repeat that a few times like a broken record, the same thing he said during his first post about it
Looking at these models I realize that unfortunately Sony Mobile is dead. Many Sony funs now have no choice but to switch to other company. Probably they will stay on market another 12-18 months but hardly much longer.
Sony Xperia XZ2 busts the new galaxies, save for the head phone jack. Those who can't digest the better camera results are just finding excuses.
Camera low light results without tripod are better than galaxy s9 pair even without OIS.
Couple it with a tripod and it gets better.
Variable aperture in s9 only brightens images doesn't add quality.
Battery performance better than the S9 duo.
Synthetic benchmarks better than S9 duo.
Audio of XZ2 is at a whole new level.
After Google pixel series Sony has the fastest software update cycle so also a win here.
Video is also better with 1080p @ 960 fps and 4k hdr recording.
Qnovo smart charging... All those complaining can not digest what Sony has brought to the table.
Best GPU and fps.
Best display HDR 10 bits.
Best videocamera and stabilitation, 4k hdr recording, 960 fps.
excellent sound with acoustic sound.
excellent features converter sdr to hdr multimedia
No OIS = joke. But looking at samples (comparing tools) image quality is the best - probably because it's on tripod.
In real life it won't be that good due to lack of OIS :(
Hopefully it looks better in real-life. After the photos I can only say - boy sheÂ’s ugly.
I don't know why GSM Arena guys don't clearly say "Sony's XZ2 is great in capturing photos both in bright light and low light." If you don't believe my statement, please check the camera quality by comparing Iphone X, Samsung S9 and Sony XZ2. For ease, following is given:
Check both "bright light" and "low light" performance of all three sets and then comment here. When proof is there, the arguments do not impress at all.
as i already said Snapdragon 845 cant beat apple A11 bionic chip in Geekybench and antutu score
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2018How do you explain that the images captured by all the cameras are exactly similarly oriented?... moreYes you are right. It is very difficult to do it. However, the XZ2 does a great job at taking nice low light pictures with human hands in control.
But pro photographers that would use the phone camera would definitely use a tripod to achieve best results, and in that case, nothing beats the XZ2.
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2018"Tripod detection appears to be better optimized on the XZ2, and the new software feels comfor... moreBut this time, the camera now prefers to shoot with slower shutter time at any condition. That is the point.
I can live without the headphone jack, only because Sonys' DAP/mp3 players are really good & wireless Aptx/Ldac will only get better, but the lack of camera OIS & that retarded, totally unergonomic fingerprint scanner placement? Deal. Breaker.

It was installed on the Pixel 2 and the notch is clearly visible. Take it or deny, it is what it is, and I'm not happy with it either.
But kindly watch your words, I am doing a lot of research for everything I'm interested in. I'm certainly not that type of person who speak out information out of nowhere.

But what I'm certainly curious with is how the S9 seem to be doing worse than the S8 in low light. I mean, shouldn't the better hardware be giving out better results?
It would be appreciated if you could indicate at which aperture is the picture taken (I believe the S9 didn't use the f1.5 but the f2.4 instead).
AnonD-635604, 14 Mar 2018First time to see this site rate xperia phone over 4.0 Stars lolWhen gsmarena puts 4 stars to an xperia they are 6 star
First time to see this site rate xperia phone over 4.0 Stars lol
Plz screen ratio increase and u got the 1st position i love sony but screen ratio is not good
This phone was turning out to be pretty darn awesome, especially low light performance is on par with Galaxy S9 and I was convinced on buying this phone over S9 the ugly rear but then I read there is no headphone jack and the front camera does not have autofocus.. -_- Why Sony cant get an AF front camera while Samsung S9 has one which has thinner bezels.
Overall, its big, its thick, its un-egonomic, and its super-fragile.
...but there's slight improvement to the performance and camera!
It's a phone that screams "me too" without being quite unique, or best at anything particular, or the best overall. Especially at this price segment. Some would define that as "selling your soul".
Is it a worthwhile trade-off?
I'd say nope. The SONY Z3 Compact was the device where SONY was at its most competitive, ever since that they've been progressively getting less competitive or even worse.
So save your money people.
Either get the Samsung S9+ or an iPhone 8 Plus instead, for the sweet high-end.
Or be more sensible and get a USED Samsung S7 (Unlocked, Exynos 8890) for cheap at US$250 (or lower!) and put a decent Custom OS on there like FlymeOS or RessurectionRemix. And maybe use a good case like the US$5 Armour Kickstand case or the Imak Slim case. It will get you 90% of the speed, battery life, screen, speakers, and camera performance for 25% of the price.
