Sony Xperia XZ2 review Comments

This phone was turning out to be pretty darn awesome, especially low light performance is on par with Galaxy S9 and I was convinced on buying this phone over S9 the ugly rear but then I read there is no headphone jack and the front camera does not have autofocus.. -_- Why Sony cant get an AF front camera while Samsung S9 has one which has thinner bezels.

Overall, its big, its thick, its un-egonomic, and its super-fragile.
...but there's slight improvement to the performance and camera!
It's a phone that screams "me too" without being quite unique, or best at anything particular, or the best overall. Especially at this price segment. Some would define that as "selling your soul".
Is it a worthwhile trade-off?
I'd say nope. The SONY Z3 Compact was the device where SONY was at its most competitive, ever since that they've been progressively getting less competitive or even worse.
So save your money people.
Either get the Samsung S9+ or an iPhone 8 Plus instead, for the sweet high-end.
Or be more sensible and get a USED Samsung S7 (Unlocked, Exynos 8890) for cheap at US$250 (or lower!) and put a decent Custom OS on there like FlymeOS or RessurectionRemix. And maybe use a good case like the US$5 Armour Kickstand case or the Imak Slim case. It will get you 90% of the speed, battery life, screen, speakers, and camera performance for 25% of the price.

Is it a must to use a tripod? Of course, no...u can support your smartphone with a bench arm or a wall during landscape photo taking, but if there isn't any u will have to rely on your hands to not shake much during low-light, besides, have u ever imagine of yourself if u are the one using a smartphone with a tripod? Okay let's just say u use the tripod particularly at night, but how long are u going to take to prepare the tripod? If u prepare a tripod for every situation at night or no low-light, I can guarantee u some shots will be missed, trust me. Why? Because in some situations the thing u want to take happened, causing u to miss the perfect opportunity, and back to the imagination part. Imagine when that thing u want to take suddenly happened in low-light and u didn't get the chance to take it because u are preparing the tripod, ever thought of that? Tripods help to reduce the amount of shakiness and also helps to improve photo quality particularly at night or in low-light situations, but it is also a troublesome thing to do for most average consumers, which will lead to missing your shot. Think again, is tripod a "MUST"? I have a lot of hobbies, mainly pc gaming, but I also have a hobby on photography, I use my smartphones to take photos and sometimes DSLR, but MOST of the time I NEVER use a tripod for both smartphone photography and DSLR photography, during low-light I would use something like a bench arm or wall or something that can help to support my smartphone/DSLR to take most landscapes, and for some unexpected moments I would just use my hands to support it firmly and take the photo. And funny u, can't u put your charger + 3.5mm dongle in your pocket? Without the tripod and putting the dongle in your pocket, u don't even need to carry a bag! If u got a earphone u can put it in your pocket too, for headphone u can just put it around your neck. Same goes to the charger and cable if u bring that with the charger, if u coil the cable properly, u can put in on your other side of the pocket, along with the charger. There we go, is there a need to bring a bag with u now? Yes okay okay we know right now the GALAXY S9 is a better deal clearly it is, but u don't have to be that immature and address it a few times in this review's opinion page over and over again right? In the end, this is people's opinion, they choose which way they want to go. Those deal-breakers may affect u, but it doesn't affect others, some people may choose the XPERIA XZ2 over the GALAXY S9, some people choose the GALAXY S9 over the XPERIA XZ2. But just because of these deal-breakers, do u have to criticize Sony? Talking about those deal-breakers over and over again like a broken FM Radio, do u think what u are doing is right and mature?

Sony really squeezed out a great battery life. Software is good as usual. Performance is top-notch. The design is polarising, the bezel reduction is less than satisfactory. Camera definitely isn't the best out there & lacks the wow factor.
Worst of all, they kept an increasingly redundant dedicated camera button, but they couldn't fit a 3.5 mm headphone jack in a phone that is 11.1 mm thick.... SMH!

This season's best overall phone in design, camera ,battery life, practicality, value for money goes to Sony xa2.
Almost all flagships this year are just gimmick filled money making device which are clearly targeted for dumb people who fall for gimmick and some new things (may not be practical). Most of them who buy these flagship have no technical knowledge, have no time or patience for enquiry/ study these mobiles. Also most of them have a disease called "latest and costliest". They just enter shop and ask for latest and costliest.

Can’t believe that you need to buy a Tripod, fast charger and adapter for jack earbuds for this Sony phone.
So, you buy this Sony phone for 800 euros. Then buy these 3 extras and price of phone now becomes approx 900 euros !
Also you must carry the tripod, and adapter for jack earbuds. Which means a carry bag or day pack.
Sony has really lost the plot here. How ridiculous is Sony ? Plus NO International warranty with Sony phones.
Sounds like a deal breaker for most people.
Buy a Samsung S9 for less and get free fast charger and headphones for 3.5mm jack. Don’t need a tripod or adapter for jack earbuds for Samsung or a carry bag or day pack.

Trust me, without OIS or tripod, it is almost impossible to ensure that the camera lens faces the subjects head-on and the image taken is the same as the reference. Maybe someone from this website would like to clarify here?

Android P will be optimized for phones with notch... moreI always imagine if Xperia implement the notch, I like it to be at both top and bottom notch, other area bezelless. Angle it to create 'X' word style, notch at bottom as fingerprint and home gesture, seamless with body, so that u never know its a fps scanner. Both notch have speakers for front firing stereo. Left and right side of the bottom notch are back and option navigation bar, top notch for notification. As for display, u can enjoy both 18:9 and 16:9 ratio, 18:9 when scrolling and browsing, 16:9 for video because of the notch blocked.
