I think I understand why people say that Sony Xperia cameras are bad, I personally hate the "Superior Auto" the Auto setting is actually so bad, but the manual is such a blessing.
So I think that GSM arena has a point saying that Xperia's cameras are "Not on par" with the others in the "Auto" setting, but the manual is beautiful.
The S8's auto function so much more superior than Xperia's.
The manual is 50/50 (About the same)
Opinions coming from a proud XZ and S8 Owner.
(Bought XZ myself, a friend got an iPhone X so I bought the S8 for a really good price)
Hope this allows others to consider my theory / opinion

This seems like no more than a mid ranger with a snapdragon 845 inside. Also a terrible design, especially since Sony usually has a very good design. Disappointing.

I dont mind the functions much. Neither do I mind xperia phones looking as boxy as it was. My dad saw his xperia z and said he would consider to buy another one because not only because its endurable, the design itself was pretty much like a suit and tie on any phone. Sony had their own edge, just like volvo ( until this stupid chinese brand bought it, now xc90 design is like bmw x5)👎.Sony is designing phones like china bought the brand, feels like huawei just by looking at it! booooooooooo!!!

But managers who accepted XZ2 and XZ2C in production really deserve spit in face and kick from behind to be kicked out of company to prevent even more harm they could bring with their incompetent actions.

Looks like only after seeng this ugliest Sony phone ever, people started to appreciate design of the previous Sony models. True - previous models weren't everyone's cup of tee but at least it was difficult to call them ugly and besides that they had their own face whilst XZ2 and XZ2C are just badly designed, heavy and uncomfortable to use (due to no 3.5) piece of junk created to kill company.

Its heavy because built in LCD, curved glass, metal frame, dynamic vibration system hardware..
